The Radeon VII Ain't It Chief
The same price as a RTX 2080 with none of the benefits. It's speculated that half of the price went to the huge amount of HBM2 memory which won't really be fully utilized. They should've cut that by half or at the max to 12 and added more cores. AMD had a chance and they blew it. Maybe next time. ![]() |

Close to the 2080 in plenty of games. Many uninformed people will not even realize this GPU wasn't made for gaming. Only 5000 will be made, no aftermarket GPUs either. It's a GPU more for Production, hence the 16GB of HBM.
Is Ray Tracing nice, yes it sure is. Is it absolutely needed right now, no so it's not a big deal it doesn't support it. I mean even Nvidia knows this hence why they're doing 11xx series cards. It'll come later, more than likely with Navi. Speaking of Navi, I've said it before and I'll say it again - Navi is the one you need to pay attention to. If you're into production this card is great for it. |
