This was my goat gaming system I preferred this over the PS1 because I was a knuckle head not keeping my disc clean (I use to wipe them off with alcohol to make them play.)

N64 launch day is one of my fondest childhood memories when pops came home with it as a surprise. Mario 64 for the first time is the most blown away I've ever been with a game.

Would go to blockbuster just to play it. Blown away

Traded in my PS1 for one at Funcoland. If Nintendo hadn't pissed everyone off sticking with the cartridge format, it would've blew PlayStation out the water.

Definitely top 3 console. It’s only people who didn’t own one or who are younger that underestimate how popular and fun couch multiplayer was. It was SUCH a big deal to play 2-4 player local multiplayer with your lil homies. Countless hours were spent on multiplayer alone. Straight out of the box you could hook up 4 controllers. This wasn’t an industry standard at the time so it was crazy. Not to mention both Nintendo and rare put out a heavy hitter line up of games that weren’t available on other consoles.

I forget that ps1 only had 2 control ports. You needed to buy a device to be able to play with more controllers. Also the Rumble system was something the snes didn't have. The only thing they shoulda changed about the n64 was the controller. But once you get past the learning curve it's easy

I heard diddy Kong racing is actually better than Mario kart. Mario kart was just more popular

Exactly and I don’t know anyone who ever bought the multi tap (I believe) it was called

I forgot about the rumble pak - that was ahead of it’s time too and forced Sony to update their controllers. Fun fact: at one point in development for goldeneye the rumble pak had to be removed and reinserted to reload your gun. Nintendo decided against this as it would have caused too much wear and tear on the pins / electric components inside the controller itself.

I never found the controller to be an issue. As a kid I was just happy as hell. As an adult now I can see it being a concern. One thing is for sure is that a lot of people didn’t utilize the C buttons. It’s very obvious to me when I see clips on YouTube and the people aren’t moving with precision or how they complain about goldeneye controls being outdated. If the C buttons are used correctly you could smoke anyone who only used the middle stick lol

Overall such great memories. Just copped an n64 hat for the hell of it
