I mean… tell me where I’m wrong. I’m open to a different opinion if you have one.

In my opinion, he lost the battle to push because his kid & adidas deal was outed via Kanye backdooring him. As far as bars, he stood his own.

As far as being solid, dude has the same team around him for a decade+ and I don’t know of any ovo, mob ties, young money or cash money people saying he did them dirty in that timeframe. I also can’t think of another artist at that level that has that type of track record for being solid. Most had to snake a few people/ deals to maintain their position.
When his bars are up to par with pharohe, mos def, posdenous then I'll give him some credit otherwise he is only popular cause the masses are dumbed down

So if Drake only wrote 75% of 21’s verses does that make you feel better about it?

Drake has held his own trading bars & subs w/ multiple goat level lyricists. Common, Push, Jay, Kenny. That’s not a light resume.

Push clearly won and had drake waving the white flag but he didn’t win on bars. He won with information and strategy.

Duppy was hitting hard with truth if u ask me but the Virginia Williams line was completely stupid and he got what he deserved for pulling a man’s family into it. I actually don’t think push woulda pulled that wild card if Drake didn’t jump first.

Nah it’s deeper than that.

He basically said nga ur clowning me about ghost writing but I was just w/ you guys writing for your BOSS.

That whole sh*t stings because push is an elite lyricist but

A. Kanye is overlooking him and going to drake to write hits for him.

B. Why did a former fan & child actor from Canada bypass him to the point where Push is the employee and Drake/ Kanye the bosses

Duppy hit Push where it needed to but the critical mistake was mentioning that man’s lady at the end for no reason, which changes the rules of engagement. I guess he was trying to make ppl think he knew something or smashed. Goofy move. It was miscalculated and backfired badly.

Drake's writing team is working extra hard this year

They need to unionize and demand more recognition

Bro is worth maybe $300m w/ 30-40 employees.

The “Drake” brand is not longer a person. It’s a huge company and I wouldn’t expect him to write every bar at this point. Just like I wouldn’t expect it from Jay, Nas or anybody else.

Rappers saying they write 100% of every song on every album is one of hiphops dumbest lies. It’s up there with rappers saying they write their lyrics in their head and never put pen to pad or type them.

This unrealistic sh*t is not expected in any other music genre. Music is collaborative.

you're mentioning n*ggaz that would never be included in the GOAT conversation because it's only 7 people left alive who know pharaoh monche, or that posdnuos is the n*gga for de la soul. them n*ggaz aint sell

i hate your opinion cuz what it implies that everything that is, or could be great about hip hop has already happened, and we're living in this postmodern sh*tscape where we as consumers are just too ignorant to have any idea of what we want and the stuff that we like and agree to be good, actually isn't good, because it isn't like the old stuff

no different than good ol boys hearkening back and tryna revert society back to "the good old days"

n*ggaz k*ll me applying antiquated standards to modernity

Why would somebody gift another person a whole album.

Unless they needed that person in order to make it street certified.
Maybe when the pen is too wild for it to be your own...

what i mean is...

I think as a creative is honestly easier to write for someone else cause it's a matter of filling in words to an image...ie: if this is an LA rapper i can write LA based sh*t, I can't never use that for myself cause i'm not from LA but it'll fit him.

Does that make sense?

I kinda felt what you're saying until the last sentence.

Other music genres aren't based around the artist being a WRITER. A singer sings. The voice, the harmony etc is the "instrument" they're playing/selling, hence why the writing doesn't matter as much.

A rapper is supposed to be a WRITER and an EMCEE. Most of which write about their lives/thoughts and or what's around them.

If it's really Terrell or Bryan from Milwaukee writing your sh*t then you're nothing but an image for the corporations (ie Vanilla Ice). So that excuse doesnt work with hip-hop and will never do.

He’s a billionaire, nicki herself said drakes the quietest billionaire because he doesn’t go running to Forbes or other outlets to let people know. His new deal is 500 mil, his stake deal is over 100 mil.. and then there’s real estate and his portfolio of stocks etc that obviously no one would see.. yeah he’s def a billionaire.
