NWA changed rap when they came out. Really hijacked that sh*t. Had people dressing different, acting different.

My young punk azz grew up in the Midwest, Chicago area. Everybody was wearing Kings and Raiders hats. There was a time where we were even putting rhinestones on the lettering.

Cant forget the silk type starter jackets either… Folks were getting k*lled over them things… I could never afford one. But did hit a lick and got a saints one. Thank God nobody wanted them shts though..

I believe it’s also why really white Sox went from this

To this…

I saw people in Houston was sporting that too. Plus everyone was wearing their hat super high on top of their head.

I remember before there was the factory flat bills, we used hair spray to shape them and get them to sit right.

i mean maybe

My take on this is that NWA was bigger icons than tribe at their peak and probably culturally more significant

as far as the music itself, idk. . .Dre and cube would both end up doing groundbreaking work but it was mostly after nwa. It feels weird to say that NWA was more impactful to hip-hop music because the Chronic was such a game changer

Tribe shares their influence on the music with de la soul as far as im concerned, so maybe NWA is a little more impactful. But the low end theory just turned 30 this year and there is a definite shift in east coast rap after that album.

And end of the day, tribe is a better group

Umm if we talking actual sound and flows it’s tribe easily.

more than half the goats of the last 25 years have Tribe influence.

NwA had a bigger impact as a group in their run but we not gonna act like Publice Enemy wasn’t around doing the same thing.

Who cares?

I get the aspect of debating, but dudes be trying to debate sh*t that has no basis that you can measure or prove but calling sh*t a fact.

NWA was def a solid group but I'd take Tribe any day musically. (not the question I know)

The better question is why?

Was the budget the same?

Doesn't your man have the number 1 song of all time? Must be the goat.

What's the point?

NWA and it's not even close. When you factor how much impact NWA had in putting the West Coast on the map in the 80's and the individual impacts Dre and Cube alone had, it's not even a real comparison.

Also, Kanye is just as influenced by Dr. Dre as Tribe by his own words.

You do realize NWA's debut album touched on Black issues more than Tribe's, right? PITPR was more positive than it was conscious but that's another topic by itself.

And NWA helped one of the most pro-Black rappers, Ice Cube, go Platinum in the 90's.

I know NWA has plenty of faults but this is such as lazy diatribe against them based on old sensational headlines.
