Bruh the contract is awful. It's a good value if he was actually a solid QB. As it stands it's one of the worst contracts in professional sports so saying it's "cheap" is idiotic.

That’s the market for functional QBs who are capable of starting a game and not being Blake Bortles bad.

It was an overpay, but they weren’t getting a better discount on another QB last offseason. Who you gonna sign? RG3? Tannehill? Re-sign Bortles to a cheaper salary? It wasn’t any options that looked better.
they werent bidding against anyone thats what makes the contract even worse

He got paid for a 5 game basically…. Wentz was MVP candidate that season... To pay 88 million for a QB who was avg to below avg most of his career and contemplated retiring still dumb...

How are they supposed to know what other teams are offering?

The market said $18-20 Million for a low level starter, his agent more than likely says that was what what Foles was seeking. They gave an offer over market value to secure his signing. It looks dumb but they were doing what they had to do. Gardner Minshew success wasn’t the one that was expected.

Of course they won't. The small market Jaguars will never do anything significant in the National Football Entertainment League

Tannehill playing elite so yeah they could've traded for him.
He’s cool, but after last season ended teams weren’t beating down his door to trade for him. He took a 1 year deal initially to be a backup. Hindsight is 20/20 for Jacksonville. At the moment Foles looked like he’d at least get them to .500.

And lost in an obviously rigged games. Going to the AFC championship means nothing. No one, outside of Jags fans, even remembers that they made it that far.

If you still can believe they don't at least rig games after seeing this

Exactly his play isn’t up to par right now so I understand peoples frustration.

But when we talk about ridiculous contracts, gotta look at Kirk Cousins and that fully guaranteed deal. like someone said earlier in the thread robbery with no pistol word to Osweiler.

He was injury prone. Tannehill was never a bad Qb.

Rather than pay a QB who's been marginal at best majority of his career 88 million with 45 guaranteed, I would draft a QB and hope I find a gem in the 3rd to 5th rounds.. paying 88 million is dumb in so many ways no matter what the market says...

But they did that. They got Minshew in the 5th or 6th.

They just didn’t know how good he would be right away, they didn’t even have to spend years developing Minshew while being forced to let Foles play those guaranteed years out & experience the ups & downs. Minshew came ready out the pack no a*sembly required. If they knew that from the jump they would’ve never signed Foles thinking he’s a solution to the starting job.

They should have had faith in their draft pick and used this year as a development year like Giants, Cards, etc Paying Foles 88 million just don't make sense from any angel. The Eagles wasn't even willing to pay that type of bread and he won them a Superbowl. Tom Couglin didn't want to pay Ramsey (who is a all pro corner) but blew 88 million dollars on Foles. The game has passed Tom Coughlin up and he made a bad decision as GM.

Glad the Jags overpaid for him so he can come back to Daddy Lurie and back up Carson on the low until he decides to retire.
