Dec 4 - A "Real" American Problem- Fast Rising suicide Rates

image

America is facing a suicide crisis.

A new survey on mortality and life expectancy in the United States, released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), found that 47,000 Americans took their own lives in 2017—2,000 more than recorded in 2016. The national suicide rate has increased 33 percent between 1999 and 2017, according to the CDC's National Vital Statistics System data. What's worse, a broader a*sociated Press analysis of government records indicates that American suicides are now at their highest point in 50 years. It's now the second-leading cause of death for Americans under the age of 35.

And the rate of suicides has only accelerated in recent years. According to the CDC, suicide rates among both men and women increased around 1 percent a year between 1999 and 2006; between 2006 and 2017, however, rates jumped to a 2 percent annual increase. The suicide crisis isn't evenly distributed, though: CDC research indicates that the suicide rate jumped more dramatically in rural areas (13.1 per 100,000 in 1999, vs. 20 per 100,000 in 2017) compared to urban metros (9.6 per 100,000 in 1999, vs. 11.1 per 100,000 in 2017)

That finding gels, broadly speaking, with a growing body of research that indicates it's primarily white, rural Americans who are k*lling themselves. In 2015, a Proceedings of the Natural Sciences (PNAS) study indicated that middle-aged, white Americans were dying at a greater rate than ever before. Even as mortality rates declined in almost every major developed nation (with the exception of Russia), they rose steadily for the U.S., thanks to the uptick in suicides:

image

his report highlights trends in suicide rates from 1999 through 2017. During this period, the age-adjusted suicide rate increased 33% from 10.5 per 100,000 in 1999 to 14.0 in 2017. The average annual percentage increase in rates accelerated from approximately 1% per year from 1999 through 2006 to 2% per year from 2006 through 2017. The age-adjusted rate of suicide among females increased from 4.0 per 100,000 in 1999 to 6.1 in 2017, while the rate for males increased from 17.8 to 22.4. Compared with rates in 1999, suicide rates in 2017 were higher for males and females in all age groups from 10 to 74 years. The differences in age-adjusted suicide rates between the most rural (noncore) and most urban (large central metro) counties was greater in 2017 than in 1999. In 1999, the age-adjusted suicide rate for the most rural counties (13.1 per 100,000) was 1.4 times the rate for the most urban counties (9.6), while in 2017, the age-adjusted suicide rate for the most rural counties (20.0) was 1.8 times the rate for the most urban counties (11.1). The age-adjusted suicide rate for the most urban counties in 2017 (11.1 per 100,000) was 16% higher than the rate in 1999 (9.6), while the rate for the most rural counties in 2017 (20.0) was 53% higher than the rate in 1999 (13.1).

I think they are doing some funny sh*t with their particle accelerators. They are probably accessing a "dimension of possibilities", and quantumly swapping particles, or some advanced sh*t like that.
so you think brain waves are being affected?

you don't think the rising # of prescriptions being dealt out to kids and teens has anything to do with this?

Thought about committing that a few times, but then I realized that happiness isn't a gurantee and that it is an achievement--you have to earn it.

as terrible as the suicide rate increasing is in the US the first graphic clearly shows that suicide rates are dropping everywhere else. So, I'm not sure about populations decreasing on a whole. Especially since 1/3 of the word's population is located in Asia/India and they're consistently on the low end of the suicide rates.

Back to the U.S. though.

Is a lower population a bad thing?

I tell whoever I'm watchin TV with the exact same thing when I see these trash ads. The real problem is that they'll never go away. Big Pharma is in a weird space in the US. Its gonna take something drastic because 1 out of 4 Americans are on a prescription and that # is only increasing. These pharmaceutical companies are people's supplier and when you feel bad, depressed, emotionless and something brings back that feeling of life or health.... you don't want that to go away... even if its a trash pill that could lead you down a much worse path.....

they even give ritalin to kids smh. not paying attention in school from time to time is a normal part of growing up. antipsychotics slowly turn people into zombified and potentially harmful people smh. "medication madness" by peter breggin talks about this in depth

Medication Madness reads like a medical thriller, true crime story, and courtroom drama; but it is firmly based in the latest scientific research and dozens of case studies. The lives of the children and adults in these stories, as well as the lives of their families and their victims, were thrown into turmoil and sometimes destroyed by the unanticipated effects of psychiatric drugs. In some cases our entire society was transformed by the tragic outcomes.

Many categories of psychiatric drugs can cause potentially horrendous reactions. Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Adderall, Ritalin, Concerta, Xanax, lithium, Zyprexa and other psychiatric medications may spellbind patients into believing they are improved when too often they are becoming worse. Psychiatric drugs drive some people into psychosis, mania, depression, suicide, agitation, compulsive violence and loss of self-control without the individuals realizing that their medications have deformed their way of thinking and feeling

normally I would argue yes.... but when the rise in suicides has a direct correlation to the rise in prescription medication usage I can't stamp "natural" anything on that

of course, anytime someone feels trapped with no way out or lost of control the last option in that persons control is suicide. and in today's climate in most top tier countries there isn't much hope. nobody wants to live in constant mental or physical pain and suicide is a way to stop it.

Look at the rise of transgenderism. There was a recent story of a mother forcing her son who’s only 6 years old to transition to a woman. This is a mental disease but you can’t say that because Democrats think it’s hate speech. Look at Twitters new rules about misgendering.

Somehow we’re gonna have to stop making everybody a victim of something. Then maybe mentally people will be strong again.

Japan got a high rate with suicides. One of the highest in the world. No idea why.

I think the problem in the US is the drugs. It gives you the idea to end your life once you're in a fu*ked mood.

Stop using drugs and be healthy.

US is 27th in the world. Lower than few European countries. 3th world countries are not into that sh*t.
