Not too bad. It was probably one of the easiest and most fun jobs I’ve been in. I’ve been support and combat arms. I did 8 years and now I’m medically retired at 90% I regret some things, but now I work a municiple job and collect retirement (disability compensation) while going to school and get paid for that too.
8 years gets you 90% retirement ????

I wonder if they still do that trick where they make everyone stand in formation the first day and ask if anyone wants to go home to come forward, then if anybody actually does it they smoke the sh*t out of them in front of everyone.

never understand people who sign up to f*ght for a country that don't f*ght for them.....

who would willingly raise their hand and say "Yes" to this nonsense?

I guess that's why most recruiting happens in poor and rural areas cause those people don't know any better or have a way out.....but man that's sad

glad it worked for you OP but to me life isn't about being broken down and molded back in someone else's image....

fu*k this sh*t and the military. Training young men to be k*lling robots so they can get a used dodge charger. fu*k anybody who disagrees. I wouldn't ever in a million years sign up to be a cog in the billionaires murder wheel. All these mfers are brainwashed as fu*k doing pushups and getting yelled at by some dumb shiny head goof who hasn't accomplished sh*t except putting worthless badges on a tattered jacket and k*lling other humans.
you're so naive it's sad lol. you get out what you put in.

My cousin enlisted at 17 fresh out of high school. he's now retired from the army at 47 and is a private practice physician. the army paid for his undergrad education and medical school in it's entirety.

If you want to enlist and be a murder machine with the sole intention of owning a used dodge charger then you can do that.

but there are plenty of other people who achieve much more

I got fu*ked up the first day of AIT because of the name change for medics when we became “health care specialists”. I got to ft Sam and walked up the formation with my bags and told one of the drills “I’m not supposed to be here, I’m not a combat medic, a health care specialist” lmaooo.

Black men DO NOT belong in the US Military. But that's my opinion, to each their own though. Respect.

I originally got medboarded, and eventually permanently retired, for combat related injuries and “chronic and severe PTSD”. It stemmed from a deployment as a line medic w/ 3rd BCT 101st airborne to khowst province Afghanistan in 2010.

Nah bro it ain't that at all. I was raised around people with that same mindset but it ain't that at all. Also why I enlisted so late (30) I'm 31 now. You get what you put in

For those who may be thinking about joining, video kinda gives you an idea of what your getting into.

Best decision I ever made when I graduated HS in 98'. But hey it's not for everyone

Ft. Jackson aka “relaxin Jackson” is the saddest excuse for army basic training. Ft Benning is where you go if you wanna man the fk up. But you can’t pick where you go unless you pick infantry you goin to the devils sandbox. Went in summer 2006. 100 degrees and 100 humidity every day. That ft. Benning sun don’t play drill sergeaaaaant

I hope you dont got kids. If you wanna be looked at as a "hero", falling for the military scam aint it.

We need more cops. They are who we rely on to protect the american people. The army aint protecting sh*t.

How did you possibly go to both Benning and Jackson for you to be able to compare the two?

FACTS ☝. It wasn't until the bus pulled up to the barracks and the drills started tossing everybody's sh*t that reality of what I had signed up for hit me.

That said never call an NCO sir, especially not you fu*king drill. Not only will you get smoked the whole squad is gonna get hit with that half right face when y'all get into formation. I look back at boot and laugh, but I hated that sh*t while I was there.

Anybody that was in the army ever knows that fort Jackson is called relaxin Jackson for a reason. It’s soft compared to infantry basic. When I was in women were only able to go to Jackson, they gave out stress cards to show drill sergeants when you were stressed, extra phone calls, lighter pt. This is all secondhand info from people with firsthand experiences.

No knock...I passed on the military and broke family tradition. Born/grew up in Fayetteville where Ft. Bragg is at and tons of family and friends were in the service. But really...can't even say I think I would have wanted to try it. Life turned out gucci!
