This movie was good and it goes to show you that you can make a good movie thatís over three hours and it doesnít have to have people flying and shooting beams out there eyes there needs to be more movies like this and they can finally stop making remakes of everything we saw already
How does this movie stand up in comparison to the other mob movies like: Goodfellas, Godfather, Casino, etc?

I can't believe dudes are complaining about the length. Most of the best movies ever are long as fu*k. I personally never want good movies to end.

dont be fu*kin stupid and don't use other peoples stupidity to justify that. If you don't know who Jimmy Hoffa is, especially if your on the east coast and over like 21 you're just a fu*kin idiot. Hoffa's missing body is one of the greatest mysteries in American history...I'm not even American and i fu*kin know that.
sh*t mythbusters even did a whole episode on trying to see if his body really could be buried at the end zone in Giant's Stadium
I know who he is... but youíre downplaying how little the average American cares about history. The guy disappeared 45 years ago. And he isnít really taught about in public US history classes... at least not here on the west coast.

You could make the argument itís as good as any of them... itís definitely better than Casino. Its themes are a bit heavier than that movie, though. Whether youíll enjoy it as much from an entertainment/rewatch perspective really depends.

I have no clue, I don't know anything about him. I saw the movie years ago but don't remember. From what I know they never found his body. I was just thrown off by dudes in here thinking everyone should know who he was like he was some big star or some sh*t.
in the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and the first part of the 70’s he was one of the most famous americans alive......

from there his disappearance is still one the biggest mysteries in this country’s history........

all that being said this is 2019 and the country is far, far removed from Hoffa so i get people. or knowing anything about him other than his disappearance..........

Watching it as I type. Got about an hour left. DeNiro was DeNiro. Pesci k*lled it.

To me Al Pacino is definitely the MVP of the movie. He better be nominated for an Oscar.

Hard to say without somewhat spoiling...

The movie is really about a wasted life. A worthless existence. It will also make you question your own. Are you fulfilled? Are you making the most of your time here? And you will feel the weight of just how fast time flies by.

I also felt empathy for Frank, even though he’s a bad guy and thought about the people I know like him. One of my best friends from high school was recently murdered due to gang violence and another good friend was recently sentenced to life for a gang murder. That kind of stuff weighs heavy on me.

I also have a very sick sibling, and watching these guys make plans for death and scrambling in their final days took a lot out of me.

Lastly, this was definitely Scorsese saying goodbyE in advance and refuting how the masses interpret his films. I wonder if he felt necessary to do this as if there is some kind of guilt he feels about how he has depicted violence over the years? The way it is depicted in this film is much different than his past films. It has a sort of a bumbling, clumsy feel to it than the more slick violence that we’ve seen in his movies in the past.

I donít really agree that De Niro was just De Niro... the last hour was probably his best performance since Heat.
