Your joking right ?
Idk whether he was taking other peoples credit but diddy did one more chance , juicy , and who shot ya , from memory. And a few others. That痴 just off ready to die. Now we can debate if he痴 making the beat from beginning to end by himself. But in that case we have to discredit him jd and dre who all have others working on beats with them as well on numerous popular songs.
But he didn稚 do them tho. The Hitmen Stevie J and then did. He was just there giving opinions

Idk what buttons he pushed or didn稚 but whether he made the beat or gave instructions he is the mastermind behind creating the song.
Dre does the same thing. Kanye does this also with other 澱eatmakers
There痴 a difference between beatmakers and producers. Someone can make a dope beat but are they the ones saying drop this intro here , or high note here , change these lyrics to this .. , etc the producer is the quarterback of the team. The sh*t isn稚 a hit without that person.

Which Biggie record did Puffy Produce?

I remember Biggie said he gave his producers to Pac for Thuglife Vol 1 and MATW

I don't recall Biggie ever mentioning Puffy as a producer.

Just because some artist was signed to Diddy and he plastered executive producer all on the album to get his writers credit does not make him a producer

Anyhow JD is a real producer unlike Diddy. He gets busy and had a solid r&b collection. Yall must of forgot
We need Jodeci vs Boyz to men to settle this sh*t for the last time

I agree, I’m sayin that forget Puffy, he’s just an executive producer, a financer who put his name on a lot of records he ain’t produce. I’m saying JD going against Babyface or Teddy be better cause they are actual producers.

Folks gotta learn the difference between a beatmaker and a producer. Puff is a producer. Just because that n*gga wasn't pressing the pads or playing the keys doesn't mean he wasn't guiding the sound.

I tell dudes all of the time, look at the folk's work who claimed they were making the beats for Puff and Dre. How many of them have #1's outside of working with them?

Puff created the Hit-men crew he give dudes a vision to run with. Most folks lack vision even if they can bang on a machine or move a mouse in today's terms.

That's why the sound of music hasn't changed in 10 years. There are not more Puffs, Dre's, Pharrell's, Timbo's... Just a bunch of n*ggas sharing the same online plug-ins. It all sounds like on long sh*tty a*s beat that won't stop playing.

Puffy is neither a beatmaker or a producer

We all know the difference, stop talking as if you are telling us something.

He is a man that slaps on the executive producer tag to get his writers credit.

When did I say he had Usher whole catalog? Compare what tiny bit Diddy did with Usher, to what JD did with him?

JD got all of Usher's real songs.

Man Puff was running around with Usher when he was barely legal, before anyone really rocked with dude.
My bad read it wrong. You really said xscape whole catalog. Like 112 wouldn稚 sh*t on them

Not back then he wasn稚 goofy. He was the actual producer.

Imagine thinking he had nothing to do with Mary J sound and biggie mainstream success.

He did have something to do with their success. He was great at talent scouting and artist development. If Verzuz was about who is the better marketer than Diddy would win

Still not a producer

My man unless you were there, you really can't speak on it. The Hit-Men have spoken on his contributions over the years. His name isn't on a record just to be there. Most producers in other genres of music never touch an instrument they guide the sound and hip-hop is the only one where that's taken as somethings wrong.

Quincy Jones did the same thing as Puff. He wasn't playing the instruments on Off the wall and Thriller he was gathering the musicians and making sure the songs were hot. No one is screaming Rod Temperton is the real Q.

Puff changed the sound of hip-hop from dusty-ass street corner to smoothed-out gangster sh*t. Y'all gotta learn to understand music and not just a*sume things.

Cmon man, you know what context were are speaking of when we say the word “producer”. We are speaking about actually making the beat, no just someone delegating and directing things, we are speaking about making the beat from top to bottom, not just telling an actual guy who makes beats what to put in a beat for them.

If I tell you Timbaland or The Neptune’s, Babyface or Quincy Jones produced a beat you don’t have to jump through all those hoops like you just did with Puffy. You know exactly what I’m talking about if I said one of those guys “produced” the beat. Because we’ve all seen them on actual machines making beats.

I can speak on it because you can actually read the making of some of these albums

Dre is a producer in every sense of the word and the Quincy Jones of hip hop. 9 times out of 10 when you see Dre, he is in the studio

He talks about mics, vsti's, mixing, plays the piano, drums, his recording process, how he made such and such beat, the sessions. The guy is a producer

Diddy is a talent scout, showman, party promoter, never a producer, if he is a producer then so is Suge Knight.
