Some fan bases are just a lot more rabid and faithful to where they will consistently stream,dl,buy certain songs or albums. All those followers are much more important then them buying music. Those followers will dictate what sponsors you get and endorsement deals. It’s for all the money outside of music. No matter how anybody cut it, having followers is the most important aspect of modern entertainment. The more people checking for you will get you the bigger checks Last edited by Gmoney419; 08-16-2022 at 06:34 PM.. | |

obviously the internet/streaming/piracy play a part but at the end of the day it comes down to demographics.
if you a top country or latin artist you gonna still sell records. the majority of this country? middle america whites and latinos. easy money. if not? gotta catch lightning in a bottle. pop acts will come and go. some have staying power like a lady gaga, you got soul acts like adele that can still sell but it's really rare especially in rap to k*ll on first week sales. not to mention this young generation (gen z) is the smallest generation by population in our nation's history. before them it was gen x. but gen x was sandwiched in between the baby boomers and millennials (the two biggest generations in our nation's history) so those acts had enough consumers to sell records. these new artists gotta hope and pray old boomers and cranky millennials who hate how rap has changed buy their records to be able to sell. not a good recipe. that's why a lot of the acts you listed that can still sell are typically from the millennial's coming of age timeline. demographics matter. |
