I have a few other certs but am studying for cissp first then pmp, but I won't lie. My exp in the mil being in a different it job every duty station lines up the vast cissp material. It's just connecting dots over a landscape so I see why it's heralded. Cissp is manager and technical over 8 IT domains, Cism is just 4 and more manager based iirc. Its overkill honestly. Cysa or Cism are good certs I see advertised, but cissp is always on those damn mid-high positions.
Being Netman offered the most familiarity. Looking to do blue team, ciso, system admin, it manager, etc. I plan on having my undergrad and masters in the next two years, but damn these next two years are gonna be long. Re-enlistment incentives and bonuses are nil for network techs and with the extra bs (responsible for troops, always moving/deployments, additional duties, always called in to fix somethin on standby with NO extra pay/recognition, etc.) the mil adds, im setting myself to get out if i decide to, the retirement aint worth the stress when I see dudes working half as I am, making very good money. My only advice is just pick environments that will allow you to grow. In turned down an extra $30k in pay to work at a less toxic company with a better career track a few years ago

It's recession proof. I literally treat my job like a client. I can set my own hours as long as I deliver on time and can be held accountable

That sounds pretty sweet! I'm a system administrator now working remotely, it's cool but that cloud is where I'm trying to head. Salute to you! Prosperity and blessings

I will say keep asking questions. Get on LinkedIn heavy.. My LinkedIn has more connections than my FB, IG, Snap, and TikTok combined.. and I have over 2k followers on IG .. I'm about to hit 4,500 on LinkedIn.. Also ask questions on Reddit. You got it. It's a slow grind that pays off. Just need consistent and take your time with it. Look into PerScholas too. They have free classes
