Toy can't discount the initial investment

Add a couple zeros and now you're talking about paying back investors.

The very first number you discuss is the ROI

This is a business conversation and it needs to be approached as such.
No. It's simple math, and simple math is the basis of business.

There were two business dealings with 2 transactions each.

First he invested $800, then was paid $1900.

He profited $1100.

Secondly, he invested $1100, then was paid $700

His loss was $400.

That's all that happened.

But the first investment was his startup so it put him in the negative. The second investment was profit so it left him in the positive.

He's left with his initial startup for the first purchase which puts him at $0 and the remainder of the profit of the initial sale which leaves him at $700 profit.

Any other answer is wrong.

You lost $100. Look at it like this. You start out with $800, you buy the cow for that amount so you now have $0. You flip the cow for $1900 netting a profit of $1100. But then you went and bought the same cow for your $1100 profit bringing you back to $0. You then sold the same cow for $700, but you started out with $800.

Wrong.

He ends up with 1500 total. Minus his initial investment of 800. He made 700.

God damn we are 3 pages in and you still got dumbasses arguing the answer. This culture is pathetic and yall wonder why most yall poor as fu#k.

It is $700.

Think of it as a bank statement.

Starting balance +$800

Buy cow for -$800

New balance 0

Sell cow for +$1900

New Balance +$1900

Buy cow for -$1100

New balance $800

Sell cow for +$700

Final Balance $1500

From Starting Balance to Final Balance there was an increase of $700.

This sh1t is the real gutter here on this forum now.

Black culture decays itself with time as usual. I remember when this place actually had a good amount of mentally sufficient people.

You have to finish the problem…you put the 800 back in your pocket an you left with the $700 as your profit…

My valet tips are more than your grocery store trips.

Add to that - I haven't been to the grocery store in 7 years.

You can't do some math on some simple transactions and you want to talk about a "money marathon"?

Yall don’t know what the definition of PROFIT is.. It’s the money earned AFTER expenses. Your BALANCE may be $1900 after your first sale of the cow, but your profit was $1100 because your EXPENSES were $800.

It's a timeframe on the cow.
Some say you broke even. Others a slight come up. You get loss for taking care of it also.

4 pages in... no fu#king way ya are this dumb

+800 in your account to start the day

- 800

Balance = $0

Direct Deposit of $1900

Balance $1900 ($1100 profit + $800 from original purchase)

-1100 (there goes the first profit gain)

Balance $800 (what you started with)

Direct Deposit of $700

Balance $1500 (original $800 + $700 on new sale)

He EARNED $700 IN PROFIT.

True, so by that definition he profited 700 dollars.

His profit was 1100 from the first sell. Made another investment of 1100 which brings him to 0, then sold it again for +700.

You said "he lost 100 dollars" which is completely wrong.

But he starts out with $800 how is ending up with $700 earning anything. That’s not profit. That’s the remaining balance which is $100 LESS than what he started with.

This thread is fu#king hilarious.

I ain't mad at the $700 answer but the question specifically states "EARNED"

You did not EARN the $800. you simply started with it

This but this question could be a midfu#k too...

Cause it says "how much did he earn?"

It doesn't specify at which point...

If he bought a cow of $800 and sold it for $1900 then up to that point he earned $1100 in profit. What he chooses to do afterwards has nothing to do with what he earned up to that point lol.

But obviously we are reading the question from the point of view of "what did he earn IN THE END"

Lmao the other post already broke it down to 3rd grade level for you.

His ending balance is 1500, not 700. If you can't see how he earned 700, i probably can't help you, I'm no teacher.

Lmao this a good question for a group of friends to see how everybody thinks, does math, and understands the question.

At the end of the day he has +700 in his account.

800 beginning balance

-800 first investment

0 balance

+1900 first sell

-1100 second investment

800 balance

+700 second sell

1500 ending balance.

So he didn't lose any money. He made 700 dollars.

bruh... cause his ORIGINAL $800 has been brought back from the original sale. The $1100 he spent was his first profit gain...

In the end his account should be looking like $1500

Which is $800 from the original sale he made back and the $700 in the end from second sale.

You're thinking he only has $700 in his pockets which is not the case... he ends up with $1500 in his pockets with $700 of it being PROFIT.
