Doesn't tell the story though. Lets say Brandon Jennings shoots 7-20 right? Let's say that he took 2 whole court shots at the end of quarters. Are you really gonna hold those 2 shots against his effectiveness and his talent? Let's also say he took a shot at the end of a shot clock that his teammate placed him in a horrible possession and he was forced to catch and fire. A miss goes to Jennings, but the fault actually goes on the guy who passed it to him. Lets also say that he got fouled on one of those shots but the ref didn't make the call. Talent never made the refs blow the whistle, he's just fu*ked into a miss at that point. Take those 4 misses off and he's 7-16 which is pretty respectable. coming from 7-20 which isn't good. Stats tell the truth, yes he took those shots, but anybody with eyes won't hold those misses against him.

What about hitting a guy for an open shot but he doesn't make it? What about him getting fouled and still getting the point? What about when a player hits an open player and he makes the extra pass to a guy who scores? No a.ssists are credited but those were still plays made by that player. So again stats don't show that.

I watched Kobe, World Peace, and Blake do a damn good job in boxing out the bigs in games 2 and 3 of the Thunder series. They didn't get many of those rebounds, but hitting that guy so he doesn't fly down the lane and jam it in off the rim was HUGE. You don't get any statistical credit for that.

LeBron in that huge game he had in game 4. He grabbed the very last rebound of the game. Players were already walking off of the court, and he picks the ball up and the buzzer sounds a half second after. Yea he got that rebound, but did it have any impact on the game in the slightest? No. That gave him the exact stat line as Baylor. What if the buzzer would have sounded prior to picking up the ball? Would that make LeBron's game not as good as Baylor's since he had one less rebound?

I can go on and on man. Stats don't nearly begin to tell the story of a basketball game, a players talents, etc. That's why coaches have guys keep track of things as simple as, how many times did a player box out, or set a screen. That stuff is a major piece in putting together a championship team but goes un-glorified in statistical value.

preach, been telling these fools that for the longest, quit looking at box scores and WATCH THE GAME

This is a very useless thread...we're really discussing PER? A made up bullsh*t measure of efficiency created by an ESPN analyst.

Someone made up ALL stats at some point. Jesus.

Your eyes can lie to you. That's why all these stats exist, to help people understand what is happening MORE than just what you see.

im not taking hakeem's numbers serious cuz he put up great numbers, but lost in 4 games in the first round. george mikan did it more than 50 years ago, so that leads to bron in 09 having the #1 and 2012 is the #2

Lebron fans look at stats frankly because thats all they can do...

kobe fans look at championships well because thats what matters when its all said and done..

In the future lebron will be on all the sportscenter lists but then after it they will mention he won zero rings...lol

i feel sorry for bron stans, its like they feel like they need to put these stats out so they make sure their savior is "great" too..we know n*gga, you can stop now and get your stomach pumped

True. BUT Jordan was 21 when he got drafted. Lebron was 18 so Lebron got 3 extra years.

Lebron at 8 years in the nba = 0 rings.

Jordan at 8 years in the nba = 1 ring (i think)

so pretty much if Lebron gets one this year hes on par with Jordan the goat.

and ps. Kobe 29 years old = 3 rings. Jordan at 29 years old = 1 ring.
