Front Squats are dope, but if you do them bodybuilder style it can be painful with the bar resting on the upper chest region. This along with a lack of upper body strength will lower the amount of weight you can lift. You really have to try to use progressive overload with front squats to get better at them.

I still think that back squats are a superior movement as it hits the posterior chain just as much as anterior chain and really allows for more weight to be lifted. I was back squatting 485 but could only do 315 front squat for a few reps. Most people back squat more than they front squat.

I say do both back squats and front squats.

I gave up on squats....did them for 5 or 6 years on and off and never squatted above 150. I'm about to be 33 years old and I got with one flat foot and a fu*ked up right ankle......I said fu*k it and started using the tap bar and leg press

ankles have been injured so many times my flexibility is the worst; ankles are jacked up

bulgarian split squats are my favorite squat variation for me
I had bad ankles too... what I did to fix them, 1 legged stand ups...

Would start sitting down, and stand up with one leg explosively n jump up... land on that ankle and sit down.

I do 10 reps n switch foot. 3x10 forveack ankle

Bro... your gym got a Trap Bar?

I canít do barbell squats or deadlifts due to mobility/posture issues.

I substituted with trap bat deadlifts... no issue now. Check it out.. I highly recommend.

Same here bro... 31 year old here. My ankle mobility is the worst.

I gave up on BB squats and deadlifts.

Trap DLs, leg press, kettlebell squats, hip thrusts, leg curl machine, leg extension machine, and different lunge variations.... all I do for legs. My legs are growing, too. I’m content... fu*k back/joint pain.

What training/progressions you go through if you don't mind me asking?

Never really did squats either but figured I'd add it to the repertoire when I start hitting the gym again

Have you used straps? My trap and shoulder mobility isn't the best, so i can't get my elbows up high enough to front squat... until i tried it with straps,now i'm good

Enhances range of motion
Better on your knees
Doesn't make your a*s tooo huge
I prefer to do them Olympic style rather than cross arm simply because I also do Power Cleans and it helps with form

If you don't like the bar across your chest then try holding dumbbells up

Even if you don't use weight these are a really good exercise to throw in a super set or gas yourself out on etc.

Is nice to see yourself moving such a massive amount of weight but I stopped doing deadlifts a few months ago.

Maybe because I wasnt using a belt but at 455lbs,I felt it destroying my body.
