'The Flash' Director Reveals Major Cameo SPOILER in interview with Variety

image

Alright, everyone. This is the warning—the spoiler warning. I am going to tell you a person who shows up in The Flash as a super secret cameo, and some of you aren’t going to like it. Much like Warner Bros. “revealed” the Wonder Woman cameo in Shazam: Fury of the Gods and tip-toed around the big Superman cameo in Black Adam, we’ve got another case of a major moment coming out before it should have.

So, here we go. Speaking to Variety, Andy Muschietti, The Flash director, was asked about a big cameo in the film. Sure, we all knew that Michael Keaton was coming back as Batman, but in this interview, he talks about the fact that Nicolas Cage comes back for a Superman cameo. Normally that kind of information, if discussed in an interview, is held until post-release. But not here.

“Although the role was a cameo, [Cage] dove into it,” said Muschietti. “I dreamt all my life to work with him. I hope I can work with him again soon.” Although the interview doesn’t explain how or why Nic Cage’s Superman shows up in the film, I’m sure we’ll all be very surprised to see him, and excited, and we’ll all be able to point and tell each other about Tim Burton’s failed Superman movie or how Cage has named his child Kal-El. Joyful moments of nerdiness in dark theaters.

Or wait, no we won’t, because for the third time in a row, it will have been previously discussed in trade magazines and on Twitter. Incredible. It’s an annoying turn of events stroke of luck for a movie that has been haunted by bad luck and, in the case of the lead actor, Ezra Miller—consequential legal action for a variety of allegations.

Anyway, Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, and now

image
are all showing up in this... sigh... multiversal escapade everywhere all at once into the DC-verse of madness. Great.

Correction: A previous version of this story stated that Warner Bros. spoiled the cameo when it was, in fact, Variety. That change was updated throughout the piece.

the fact this has so low of responses let's you know how bad DC fumbled the bag...here is the truth...you only get ONE SHOT to convince audience to tune in to things like DC, Marvel, Star Wars etc universe.

As a BIGGER fan of DC than I was with Marvel I can honestly say that I have zero interest in this, a reboot, a remix, a restart, a re-anything even with James Gunn leading the helm.

Warner Bros ought to be ashamed at the 10s of BILLIONS of dollars they missed out on due to poor leadership with this...sad

I totally agree!!! And they could've given us a proper Flashpoint movie and instead they gave us some loosely based bullshyt...which might be good but still they fumbled terribly with this. Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Thomas Wayne would've been amazing

Michael Keaton played Batman, so his cameo makes sense

Can somebody explain what Nicholas Cage has anything to do with superheros aside from Kick a$s and Ghost Rider?

This is out of left field, I must be missing something

I haven’t seen it yet but from what I read it’s when Barry is running back in time and he sees different universes and one is nic cage as supes for a brief second

It only comes from when I think they had a script with him in mind and nic cage actually did a fitting for the suit but it got scrapped.

The rest of the small cameos will be seen when Barry is running back in time also.

I thought the same but as I said in my previous post the way they doing it is pretty dope. He’s just seeing all these different timelines while running back in time. But if what read correct I think it’s a pretty good ending

It's a dope scene, I wasn't expecting it so it was nice. They even gave him a short non-consequential action sequence. But the CGI in the Nicholas Cage scenes are kinda jank.

The other major cameos are

It's nice but the halfbaked CGI faces threw me off.

All the scenes while in the Speed Force pocket dimension are kinda jank, but there's a ton of eastereggs in the background of silver age DC characters & stuff that happened throughout the DCEU.

What you read is essentially in the cut coming June 16ths. Nice is fighting a giant spider alien n stuff.

The ending of Flash isn't as consequential as ppl think, unless the after-credits scenes they cut from my screening has some big moment. Barry basically puts the timeline 'almost' back the way it was, by allowing the sequence of events to happen where his mom is murdered. He goes back to his normal timeline, goes to his dad's court appearance, and he's miraculously exonerated for the mom's murder. Barry gets a call from Bruce Wayne, and he's happy to hear his voice. Bruce pulls up in his car, Barry looks at him, and Barry's like "WTF." as if its not the same Bruce, and the movie abruptly ends. They never show new Bruce's face though.

So Barry is still in a alternate timeline, with a different Bruce/Batman at least.

From everything I was reading there are cameos intentionally edited out and no one has seen the actual theatrical ending yet..soon tho..Embargo lifts on the 6th

I can't think of any other cameos they could possibly put in the Speed Force scene, they really threw the kitchen sink in my screener. There was def some George Reeves Supes in the background, and my homegirl said she saw Dean Cain Supes. Coulda sworn I saw Adam West Batman scenes in the background. Henry Cavill Supes has appearances in the Speed Force.

My theory on what's in the theatrical cut is maybe the identity of the new Batman that Barry sees coming out of the car. I think it's another legacy Bruce actor, like George Clooney.

I think it wasn’t speed force more third act surprises and post credit scene. A lot of people at screenings said 3rd act felt disjointed and had weird edits..but u saw ut I didn’t
