i remember i got a ps3 in january 2009

it felt kinda dry to me at first


i thought about it and here are some games it was missing:


ps2 has kindom hearts 1 and 2..
ps3 didn't have a kingdom hearts

ps1 and ps2 had parappa 1 and 2..
ps3 didn't have a parappa

ps2 had jak and daxter games..
ps3 didn't have a jak and daxter

ps1 and ps2 had ape escape games..
ps3 had one but it wasn't traditional, it was a psmove game

ps2 had team ico games (ico and shadow of the colossus)..
ps3 didn't have one

ps1 and ps2 had klonoa games..
ps3 didn't have one



ps360 era was flooded with fps games.. i feel like all these games i mentioned above would have helped balance out the ps3.. eventually the ps3 got better with variety.. but it definitely would have helped if some of these dropped

was anyone else disappointed by the lack of any of these or nah

The issue was the end of the generation when Microsoft was on the that bullsh*t while Sony ended gun blazing. And then Microsoft came out with that same bullsh*t on the Xbox one and got wrecked hard. The ps5, series x and switch era looks like the 360/Wii/ps3 when we had stuff competition and we had one of the greatest gaming era.

i think xbox stopped caring because toward the end they were selling a ton of kinect systems

that was a dumb comment, lol i was obviously talking about sequels not re-releases

people tend to want new games when they spend hundreds of dollars on a system

youre totally right about that lookin back now that launch was horrible its kinda like this one now with the 5, seems odd numbers dont do well with them. at the time i was gettin all my xbox games burned so the ps3 was just a blu ray player for me until mgs4 dropped.

i was playin that female god of war launch clone and could get past the catapult section because of the wonky controller i just stopped playing and returned the game back to the video store 2 days early.

i think ur missing the point of the thread.. many games people expected were not there

i mentioned

kingdom hearts
parappa
ape escape
klonoa
team ico games
jak and daxter

if u look at those, none of those are fps, sports, racing, f*ghting, or games where a guy has a gun

i like those type of games.. creative games, adventure games, etc

so yes- for someone like me ps3 was lacking for a while.. i said in my post it got better eventually but it was lacking for a while.. games u would expect to be there were not there

its not revisionist history as everything i said was accurate.. i never said ps3 had no games.. i said it would've been nice to have more of a balance with some of the 6 games i mentioned, that we all had reason to expect.. instead we had a lopsided amount of fps games

Real talk that makes me glad I always wait a few years before I move on to my next system. I waited like 2-3 years before I copped PS3 and it already had most games.. by the time I grabbed that sh*t I think MK9 was on the horizon.

PS3 to me was mostly f*ghting games.. It seemed like that's the bulk of what I played that gen. Towards the end tho I got to play MGS5 and Last of Us tho.. I had a good time with PS3 TBH.. more of a good time than I did with PS4.

Only good games this gen to me was RDR2.. the rest was mostly remakes and sh*t. KH3 was even a disappointment.

Def waiting to grab PS5 for a while.. But word I had a better time with PS3 for sure.

EDIT: and PS3 also had MGS4.. and the HD collections that's what also made it the sh*t.

i didn't get ps4 until 2017.. i got the pro.. some of the first games i got were

the order 1886
the last guardian
horizon zero dawn

the order was trash
the last guardian was trash (could've done without narration, controls were trash, camera was trash, framerate wasn't stable)
horizon was excellent.. i personally hate aloy but the game was incredible

I know we not talkin about one of the highest rated and highest sold systems ever...I know we not

I spent so many hours on resistance, that special ops mode was bananas

I only got the PlayStation 3 for is for the exclusive.


I got PS3 solely for MGS4 and it was worth it.

i said it felt dry for a while and i asked if anyone else was disappointed by the lack of some games we had reason to expect

this thread has been kinda frustrating with peeps saying i am dissing ps3 or saying i said it has no games when i didn't say that

i still play ps3... i beat 3 games on it in the past year

heavy rain had some big plot holes.. also beyond had better acting/actors.. also beyond did some things i never saw before- the out of order story u piece together as u go, (i loved them not spoon feeding it to me) as well as following jody over like a 20yr period.. like literally playing with her as an 8 yr old and a teen and so on- it made me feel close to her

uncharted 2 and 3 for me were great but i just dont like nathan drake or elena or sully.. or even chloe.. i just put up with them.. their writers are terrible imo.. literally rehashing indiana jones ... and i felt that uncharted 2 had some plot holes as well.. like how essentially monsters were wearing monster (yeti) costumes for example.. and some more stuff i wont get into
