there's always exceptions and anomalies, but at the end of the day, the doctor is there to make money, as is every person in a hospital, it's the only reason anyone shows up to work

no one would be a doctor if you had to live like a monk
I have to agree to disagree..

Doctors in private practice o would agree with you. And even doctors not in private practice but working for a network may do the same.
But I'm talking about my doctor. And the relationship my family built wit our doctor.

If you treat a relationship as a transactional that's what you'll get.

If you want any test done just lie to them and tell them either one of 2 things or both

you have a family history of whatever disease you want to check for

or

Say you have bad symptoms

I wanted to do a stress test and I told the doc I was having bad chest pains and irregular heartbeat, doc tested me no problem no questions asked.

What is /was going on with your heart? Or why did you need the test?

Nothing crazy but feeling tired but that went a way as soon as I started exercising consistently.

Just wanted to do a self check to make sure I'm good incase there's anything off.

I do blood work yearly too.

Stress test isn't something I'll do again for maybe the next 10 years

What sucks about taking a stand and doing your own research on stuf like this is that when you now go to your doctor with this info he/she's gonna now try to dissuade you from taking this test or start questioning you asking why and sh1t. Now you gotta explain to this person what she/he was supposed to know and propose as part of her job
Fam, I felt with a stomach issue for like 6 months, doc told me to stop eating bread, garlic , etc (which I don’t) I had to push for further testing and found it was a infection. Smh she hit me up with the MYBAD. I let her have it tho

Doctors don't tell you that sugar affects blood pressure more than salt. Your body NEEDS salt multiple types of salt. Your body only processes 1 type of sugar as the same

What I've learned from my recent run of having to go to the doctor to solve problems is that you gotta be your own advocate. If you don't push it, then they'll be happy to sit back and just put you through the ringer and they'll say you enjoyed it.

What's the old quote?

“If you are silent about your pain, they’ll kill you and say you enjoyed it.”

Gotta have a relationship with your doctor. Whatever I need my doctor is open to listening yeah he's gonna ask his questions. But at the end of the day he's there to help you.
Yeah, my doctor told me years ago that I'm so far beyond a GP's realm of expertise that she just sends me to whatever tests/specialists i want

yea but fu#k them. They don't get to dictate your healthcare. Too many people just follow orders. More people need to stand up and say "bi#ch I didn't ask you if I should get this test. I said I want you to order it"

Yup, I actually switched docs because of this exact thing.

Someone in the comments said something like... "most docs would rather bill your insurance $60k to treat your heart condition than bill you $50-$100 to help you avoid having heart issues."

The incentives are all fu#ked up.
What where main factors in searching for a new doctor? Like who wasn't on bs Like the first doc. Asking for a friend.

I wanted to switch to a black doctor. My old doc was a cool a$s old Mexican man. Great doctor but since covid mood changed. I understand. Doctors are under pressure.

Thought it was a good time to find a black doctor who specializes in health issues that plague black men and preventative care. So I can make some changes and hopefully avoid alot of this sh1t.

Used Black Doctors USA and yelp has a top 10 black doctors list in major cities. Got my list down to 3 docs. Only 2 accepted my insurance. Easy decision.

Yeah sh1ts crazy. You ask your Dr for a test and they grill you about it acting like you disrespected them or some sh1t

I just started lying and telling them that such and such runs in the family. I haven't had any pushback since I started doing that.

Can't believe Kierris ^ was intelligent enough to figure this out, but this is absolutely what you should do if you realize you're dealing with a doctor who's either borderline incompetent or isn't taking your healthcare seriously.

Make sh1t up until you get what you need so you can have peace of mind.

I had a great doctor who never questioned me, If I told him I was worried about something he'd set up the appropriate test. He retired tho. This new doctor I went to the past couple years was useless I finally had to drop him. And he was judgemental asf. Should've known going to a heavy-set, know-it-all doctor was a waste of my time

Hard to find good doctors these days, where I'm from anyway.

I think whats happened in the medical field is...

(a) covid eroded the trust between healthcare providers and patients so patients, nurses and doctors are all annoyed.

(b) there's a lot of legit (and some not legit) medical data and info available to consumers now via Google, AI, YouTube... so now patients are coming in armed with more data, more understanding and more interest in non pharma options and that's probably annoying for a professional with 15+ years of experience who is not used to being questioned and needs to prescribe meds to put off student loans.

say something...
