Just left from watching it. I know nothing about the anime history, but I really enjoyed the film. The last act for some reason seemed Piller it was a little longer than it needed to be, but I'd watch it again for sure.

Still think their best work is 'War of the Planet of the Apes', but I'd welcome a new gold standard. The dream sequence with Koba was especially bonkers CGI-wise.
Some of the transitions in this movie between practical and CG in this movie is amazing

Issa 7.

Solid film actually, surprisingly solid. I found myself invested in a love story which hasnt been a thing in a while.

This series has potential itll be fine. James Cameron has done enough to get pull to allow a second.

The action is VERY good. Not the greatest but very well done. Will looks nuts in 4K.
Pretty much, 7-7.5 I enjoyed it a lot, visuals and f*ghting scenes top notch, 3d was solid. Definitely got the cheese of anime dialogue in it for sure... weakest part of the film is the love interest hugo.

I hope we get a sequel.

hugo is honestly the weakest part of the comic. But i think even in the movie, they tried their best by adding a few things to his character, to at least make him not as boring as he was in the comic.

I know the previews had me sold from a visual standpoint, no question... I just didn't like the fact that it was rated PG-13 ...

Anyone that seen it got anything to say about that rating? Does it take away from it at all, or is more of a film that can get away with it?

No it doesn't take away from it. This shyt has so much blood and murder that you think it's rated r. They even say fuk a couple times. I'm confused how it isn't rated r. A dude literally gets cut in half with blood spilling everywhere. Not to mention a couple of human decapatations

I'm not trolling. Go see it for yourself. When you see this chick smashing n*ggas brains in saying fuk you, and walking with decapitated heads, then see me. I guess pg 13 you can say fuk twice in the film, but for the blood, idk. I think you can't show organs maybe. I don't know the loophole they used. I guess maybe because there's no s*x in the film is why it's pg 13😄

oh sh*t I thought you were playin...

I mean, David Cameron is gonna get what he wants man ... bottom line. If him and the mega studio that is 20th Century Fox want something like. a PG-13 rating they get it...

I think that I'll check it out based on your a*sessment... not much for cyberpunk or Manga, but it looks visually stunning... I like that, and I like that Mahershala Ali is in it...

Gone be tough to get a much needed sequel... a Disney+ extension could be cool but I doubt wed get enough budget to make it an equal.

Best shot is to go bunkers international like Pacific Rim

It's setting records in Japan and Korea, and it's looking at 60-75 mil opening in China. There's still hope.

The movie is dope !! I personally loved it.. One issue i do see with the film they tried to cramp in too many things from the Manga all at once which was noticeable i mean...

To be fair, n*gga died twice very quickly in the comic, but granted, he was more against being a cyborg in the comic and was more desperate to reach the sky city, so it made sense for him to say fuk it, I'm going up.

He's not trolling, it had a lot of violence.

Robert Rodriguez brought an Anime film to life the the same way he bought the comic book Sin City to life and that alone is really worth seeing.

Looks like an Anime movie turned into real life, it's crazy. See it in 3D
