He ain’t Odell but it does provide us with a solid WR. I think many Giants fans, ownership, and management were disillusioned about the state of our team. This draft is going to be so vital to us if we want to turn it around and it’s going to take some time.

And if you still think trading Odell was bad think about this. He’s turning 27 during the season. This will be a wasted year for him on the Giants with Eli being the QB, even if we get a one in the draft. So 2020 will be the new QBs first year starting, and even if we’re good, chances are we’re not competing for a Super bowl. And guess what Odell’s 28 now. By the time we really can use his skills to help us win meaningful games he’s gonna be 28/29

My point is just this by the time we’re really ready or should be ready to start making real playoff pushes Odell’s gonna be nearing the end of his prime and we would have essentially wasted a good portion of his career.

Listen, I know Odell is a great talent and y’all Giants fans are in disarray...but y’all gonna turn it around quicker than y’all can imagine. Especially when y’all sign Russell Wilson in free agency next summer.

I talked about this yesterday with a friend. I think this is the move they’re gonna make. I wonder what pieces they would move though.

Giants simply didn’t want to pay a WR all that money witha horrible QB situation. Eli is past his prime and can’t maximize Odell to justify his deal.and I doubt any rookie QB in this draft will be able to do the same in their first 2!to 3 years... So that right there is 4 years of Odells contract where you haven't been able to maximize the highest paid wideout.. By the time they either develop a QB or trade for one, Odell will be halfway done with his deal.. At that point it financially makes more sense to allocate the money elsewhere.

Sometimes you have to make tough business decisions, and honestly more and more I think about it, makes sense. Just sucks to lose a fan favorite I'm sure. But this isn't the NBA, one player can't carry you.. 52 man roster gotta be tight from the O to D to Special teams. Why tie up money in a WR without a QB who can get him the ball consistently.

Last I check the Giants got 2 SB rings without Odell. They'll be alright.

I like the signing and I'm going to say it now (not based off this signing) that we're going to be better than people think.

I was listening to Golic & Wingo yesterday and they did an over/under for the Giants win totals and they set it at 4.5....and they went with the under (Wingo and Jr).

Love it.

Keeping 38 year old Eli, signing 35 year old Antoine Bethea and now 30 year old Tate. Keep it going Gettleman Strong rebuild game.

They're trying to get a QB in 21 or 22 to replace Eli. Tua comes out next year. Trevor Lawrence is due in 2021.

Tate isn't a bad receiver but it doesn't make sense to give a 4 year to a deal receiver when you just traded your best one and plan on rebuilding. It seems like the Giants want to be respectable and not all out terrible but that might cost them in next years draft if they plan on waiting to get a future QB.

Personally, I think if they took Haskins or Murray (if available) and kept OBJ with Saquon, they would have had an interesting little squad. But if they are keeping washed up Eli, then who really cares. Giants are making a big mistake. You could even pick up Grier and possibly be a wildcard team. The problem is Eli, not anyone else. Giants FO refuses to acknowledge that.

I'm still pissed about the Odell trade, but it's clear they building the team around Barkley....fix the right tackle position in the Giants now have a solid oline an watch Barkley go to work..people acting like Barkley not a recieving threat out the backfield either.im pretty sure they gonna add another wideout in the draft

Everyone else keeps saying rebuilding but Gettleman has repeated it several times, we are not rebuilding. Let's not be surprised when we make moves like this, and it's essentially a two year deal with the guaranteed money due the first two seasons. Giants are fine cap wise looking at having at least over $50m with the dead money from this year and Eli's contract ending.

Even with this washed up "problem" Giants still led the NFC East in scoring last year and over the last 8 games averaged 27+ points a game. That was without OBJ for half those games, and putting up 0 against the Titans.

NFC East is filled with struggling offenses. So leading it in scoring is not saying much. Watching the games, they looked like garbage. Saquon made them look halfway decent sometimes, but that’s about it.

Getting the line around Bark is essential this time. The quick short passes out to the slots, and allowing him to run the ball, the team offense is changing. Do i like the loss of OBJ...no. but if they are going to change and develop into run heavy behind bark, shore the line like they have been starting to do, and work up from there.

First goal is to win the division. We have the offense to compete for the division. Gotta get the D right, Peppers is a good start.

Giants will be better than people expect.
