The rich get richer and the poor get excuses about it being their fault. "That job doesnt deserve $15 an hour..." Well, the cost of living doesnt support your argument. Im starting to agree with the universal income crowd, something has to give.
Not that many able bodied people are earning less than $1000 a month.

Then if u talkin about that one cats plan people that already receive food stamps would just get the remainder.

Good idea for people fresh outta prison like he said or in between jobs but 12k a yr? And most likely less wont be for people actually working

This just happened and 5 dollars more per hr per person is a very big raise just like that.

Maybe they should have paced it a lil slower?

Make it the federal minimum wage. Motherfu*kers won't have nowhere to run.

People are losing their jobs because execs don't wanna give up their bonuses and companies wanna fatten their war chests. That's fu*ked up.

If paying people a livable wage is not sustainable, what does that say about capitalism and the cost of living in this country?
Did you read the article? Big business doesnt get hurt by this. They can afford to pay more. Its family-owned businesses with small profitmargins that get fu*ked. And they arent 'running' from it. Theyre closing. So business owners are out of business and their employees are out of work.

The craziest part is that in California, restaurant staff are required to make minimum wage BEFORE tips. So waiters who were bagging $30+ an hour after tips, much of it untaxed, are now out of work.

If you have such a problem with capitalism, you can go eat rats with my cousins in Cuba.

I mean you do need cashiers right? You cant even live in new york independently making 15 dollars an hour. Anything less and the job should just come with shackles and a whip.
No. Nobody needs cashiers. Put in automated scanners and pay a couple security guards to watch them on a security camera. Way cheaper than paying 10 cashiers. And thats exactly whats gonna happen.

being a cashier isn't a job that requires that level of pay honestly. it's just not.

what'll end up happening is they'll just automate most jobs with self checkout/machines

saw a fully automated gas station in Memphis. no cashiers.

if the job you have isn't the pay level you need, it's time to learn skills that pay the level that you seek.

life ain't fair. but it ain't fair to nobody, so I guess that's fair as it gets.
They could do that, or they could just run in your pockets.

Being hungry does a job on your morals.

What I mean by that is if the only thing keeping people from putting a hole in you for your loot is God and jail, a lot of people put in that position will ask God for forgiveness later and gladly take those 3 hots and a cot.

It's already hard to get an education for a lot of people, and even with an education, it's hard to find a job. Not excuses, just reasons.

They need to cap housing cost. No way 200sqft apts should cost $1100. Cap the cost at no more than 3x the SQFT and people can afford to live. Cost of living is insane to the point most people spend 75% of their income on living expenses.

I think they need to do something where for small businesses but idgaf about corporations they can afford to pay $15/hr. When I was at Walmart a manager told me if they raised the price of everything buy a nickel they could have gave everyone a 2 dollar raise and they wouldnít because then they wouldnít have the lowest prices.

I feel you on that, I don't know how true that is about the nickel and the 2 dollars tho lol. but if it is true, Walmart basic selling point is how cheap they are and their ability to undersell everyone else. If they lost the ability to do that, it may result in a lot of lost money, then other positions would want the same or more, and it might create worse probs than expected for 2 dollars.

true but it's a reason a jackboy got a shorter life expectancy than a hustler or a boss player

maybe the person they decide to run up on concealed carry a fn 57. maybe they also have an sp5 in their car just to ensure it's a low probability they get outgunned.

It's smart to be proud 2nd Amendment to me. it's one reason why as much as I think NY is fun to visit I'd never live there or Cali.

If you commit 40 hours of your life a week to doing a job, you shouldnt be struggling to survive or living with the everyday anxiety that if your car breaks down you could be homeless. I dont give a fu*k what you do, the world needs ditch diggers too.

What black Americans seem not 2 understand about socialism/communism being implemented in America is the trickle down effect.

Theres a dead pedo war going on right now

And the same fools tight about that wanna become a socialist country thinking they got a better shot at equality under that type of government.

We are so uneducated...... itís very scary
how the fu*k is this a black issue? shut the fu*k up and go outside.

Cuz of the cities next to me having that $15 minimum wage all the prices are going up on everything

Corporate greed is at an all time high. Iíd like to debate these CEOís which wonít be much of a debate I have one question. Are you passing the saving you are making on your labor on to the consumer? The answer 9 times out of 10 is no.

Iím a union construction worker in NYC we are at a trying time as a lot of our work is being done non union ie a much lower wage scale, which to me is fine but these condos that are being built by cheaper labor, they arenít being sold for cheaper prices so essentially itís just for the developer to make more profit.

Exactly...

And to a diff extent that is waht Amazon does. They go lower then their competitors for the same product. Put them out of business, when they are out of business they raise the price.

They also enjoy all the tax breaks in the world, but we are evil for asking them to pay their employees a living wage....

Sad how the rich has bamboozled the world.
