Mar 13 - Trump 2020 Budget Cuts Medicaid, Social Security, and Medicare

visit this link https://www.vox.com/polic .. re-budget-cuts

Donald Trump’s 2020 budget breaks one of his biggest campaign promises to voters: that he would leave Medicaid, Social Security, and Medicare untouched.

“I’m not going to cut Social Security like every other Republican and I’m not going to cut Medicare or Medicaid,” Trump told the Daily Signal, a conservative publication affiliated with the Heritage Foundation, in 2015.

Over the next 10 years, Trump’s 2020 budget proposal aims to spend $1.5 trillion less on Medicaid — instead allocating $1.2 trillion in a block-grant program to states — $25 billion less on Social Security, and $845 billion less on Medicare (some of that is reclassified to a different department). Their intentions are to cut benefits under Medicaid and Social Security. The impact on Medicare is more complicated, which I’ll get into a bit later.

Over time, the Trump administration tried to whittle down the president’s promise to just Social Security and Medicare. Office of Management and Budget Deputy Director Russ Vought said Monday, March 11, that Trump is “keeping his commitment to Americans by not making changes to Medicare and Social Security.” But even that is not true.

Funniest thing is democrats are trying to do things like universal basic income which has a cost of 3 trillion per year. How you gonna do that if you don't make some cuts across the board?

Even if you take 100% of the revenue from all the rich people in the country by taxing them, you still won't get 3 trillion per year.........

Another flip flop.

Trump got such a strong following if his supporters weren’t so dumb and actually held him accountable, no telling how great his presidency could be.

But it’s more like.

Trump: I will not cut Medicare

Supporter: yes thank you Mr Trump, we need that.

Trump: I’m cutting Medicare

Supporter: yeah we don’t need that, we need more military spending.

You are way out of your depth for the conversation on healthcare costs.

The current amount Americans spend on healthcare is over 3 trillion a year. That is without everyone being covered. Build off Obamacare and expand Medicare for all first. Universal healthcare is coming. Even if it is in small increments. Switching from the current private system all at once would be too much of a shock to the system.

Another thing is these are not budget cuts. The deficit is still going up. The debt is going to have a couple trillion added to it when trump leaves office. If Obama's budget were kept in place (without the tax cut) the deficit would have continued to go down.

...and they're not gonna pay us back for what we put in either. It's gonna be the biggest of our generation

Couldn't help but notice the only Trump stan brave enough to venture here had nothing to say about these proposed cuts... just used it as a segway to stay on their favorite subject: Democrats.

Honestly, I'd rather one of these candidates start here:

The United States is exceptional in that it does not regulate or negotiate the prices of new prescription drugs when they come onto market. Other countries will task a government agency to meet with pharmaceutical companies and haggle over an appropriate price. These agencies will typically make decisions about whether these new drugs represent any improvement over the old drugs — whether they’re even worth bringing onto the market in the first place. They’ll pore over reams of evidence about drugs’ risks and benefits.

The United States allows drugmakers to set their own prices for a given product — and allows every drug that's proven to be safe come onto market. And the problems that causes are easy to see, from the high copays at the drugstore to the people who can’t afford lifesaving medications.

We don't need to jump right into universal health coverage in order to begin regulating/negotiating drug prices. That's a good first step imo.

Nobama was a disaster, nearly left us with a 20 trillion dollar national debt, fu*k that deficit/surplus b.s, it's the national debt were talking about and it is by the number 1# and greatest threat and both political parties are to blame.

Rand paul is right

And now they want to push this disaster called the green new deal which would add 93 trillion dollars to the already over 22 trillion dollars in debt over the next 10 years, it is unbelievable.
