The answer is easy. Why do you lie when you lie? Why'd Mark McGwire lie? Why'd Bill Clinton lie. Lying is rooted in a very fundamental cause/effect

Pride. Greed. Saving face or sustaining an image. Your answer is any or all of the above
Things they simply wouldnt need from a space landing. Your reasoning for lying makes no sense cause America was already winning. At this point in the worlds history they were still afraid of nuclear bombs more than anything.

If anything I'd say the desperation of other nations to look half as powerful as America at that time should be questioned. Russia and China were so afraid of the American military they started launching dogs and monkeys into space lol

Answer this question: if our space competitors were brave enough to challenge us space wise, why werent they brave enough to call us a liar? Why wont china or Russia call us a liar now?

Did our biggest foes say "okay we will accuse America of being the worst thing on earth...but dammit we gone lie with them when it comes to the moon!"

You do fundamentally accept that America was in a Space Race post WWII right? So much so they onboarded a Nazi to head their rocket development / space program.

Sputnik set th3 bar. The US was consistently playing catch up from that point on. How is that even arguable?

What do you do for a living?

We need an answer to this question before we go any further:

Now we're getting somewhere.

Do you think Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire had talks about steroids?

Does the want of power on a human level have a ceiling?

When you're in a three way TIE for most powerful nation in the world where do you go from there? Making sure history remembers you and that your spot in the future is untouchable.

You talk about establishing a system that will ensure for the foreseeable future that that 3 way tie stays as such!

Try beating yourself at Tic Tac Toe. You'll never be able to do it. There are certain competitive levels where the level of competition cannot be swayed/deviated without intervention and manipulation.

So

What do you do for a living?

You still didnt answer my question

Tell me the benefits of china and Russia lying in support of their largest adversary. The losses Russia took during the cold war and the decades after were mainly due to American aggression and politics on the world stage. They'd have NO reason to not out us as frauds, and they probably could've saved much of what Putin has been feverishly working to rebuild.

China has always wanted to remove America from the top spot. We frequently call them liars, bootleggers, currency manipulators, and fraudsters. We have even placed sanctions on the countries they do business with because of those things. Why would they play along as opposed to calling us out for being liars/fraudsters

Answer my question. I dont wanna talk about Mark McGwire, give me a direct reason. Why we have never been called out for it?

We've got enemies all over the globe. Howcome none of them have exposed us for this lie?

Because GOVERNMENT is corruptible. Not just here either. Last century put a lot of sh*t front and center for the world.

You'll never see another PHYSICAL World War on this planet again.

We've graduated from that. It's all psychological now.

The biggest threat to government is revolt. Which is on full display across smaller nations for the bigger nations to observe/record and learn from.

If the truth were told about something as meaningful as the Moon landing then how do you think the people of the countries would feel?

You think it'd be a trending topic for a day and people would get over it?

If NASA comes out and says... You know.... enough with the pressure.... dammit we didn't go to the moon and everyone involved was promised a commissions of the yearly budget we were funded to make it seem like we did .

What??!? Is it podcast fodder for a week and we move on?

To answer your question for the 10th time.

Preservation of power. That's the concept of government. Everywhere!

Elitism and securing it

That doesn’t make a lot of sense, logically speaking. If a secret of that magnitude had the potential to disrupt the world, wouldn’t it have made more sense for them to never pursue the moon landing in the first place? Why spend billions of dollars, hire 100’s of thousands of people, and collaborate with dozens of nations on a project that required that much secrecy if the risk was substantially greater than reward. Like dude said, if faking the moon landing was solely about protecting the national brand, I’m sure they could have achieved it through other ways that were far less logistically complicated and cheaper.

500 people? 500 wouldn’t even cover the number of personnel inside the command center on launch day.....and that’s just one of three launch sites in the nation. The actual supporting staff was enormous.

The appollo program was an international effort that consisted of nearly 400,000 people. Hence the multi billion dollar budget that went to NASA during the LBJ and Nixon administrations. It’s never been unusual for the federal government to employee millions of people.

The funding of the Apollo missions were the largest amount of resources a nation has ever devoted to a single project in history during peacetime.
