If the price is true, it will put all other trucks to rest. 400-500 mile range. This ish is amazing. Keep in mind too, low maintenance. Take an F-150, Silverado, Ram, Tundra, Titan, etc. If you drive those everyday, or your typical work week for 10 years. You're probably gonna spend over 40-50K in gas alone. No to mention oil changes, and other cost.

If the payload isn't competetive and it can't tow this thing ain't scaring nobody. They're claiming 300k towing capacity, but in the end its just a claim until they prove the trick can meet those lofty expectations.
Exactly. They probably can tie that because electric motors create a lot of torque. But can probably only tow it for 5 miles before the battery goes dead or the flame twists.

This isn't surprising. This truck is targeting Denali or Ford Platinum level customers and it's starting point is right there. Plus he really needs to undercut the premium trucks because this thing isn't proven. He has to get a customer base first. Also truck drivers are loyal to brands...and the competition is fierce. The F-150 is America's best selling pickup by a landslide so it's going to be tough for Tesla to gain market share in this segment. With that being said Ford is developing their own fully hybrid truck along with an SUV to f*ght against the Model X. Elon definitely has his hands full so this truck better not disappoint.

Side Note...Porsche is coming for his beloved Model S with the Taycan. I wouldn't buy Tesla stock anytime soon!

I'm finishing up a Toyota Hybrid 4 day class tomorrow and we were talking about hybrid transaxles and transmissions today. They are pretty simple in the way they operate but with the extra load towing puts on a transmission, I believe the problem is how to manage the heat the electric motors/generators will produce. In a hybrid at least, under normal load, one electric motor provides power to turn the wheels while the other charges the hybrid battery. I would imagine that if you were towing heavy you would probably need both electric motors/generators to provide power, so I'm not sure how the hybrid battery would be charged in a case like thatI'm curious to see how an EV truck will pull that off.

Sounds about right. Iíve done a lot of towing of machinery in 1 ton trucks. Mainly up mountain passes.
Usually using diesels of course. And the motors could easily go 3-400 hundred thousand miles even towing and snowplowing. But if a truck went to that high of mileage, we usually had to put 3-5 transmissions in it during that lifespan.
