How was it? No review?
I was really busy while in LA, but I loved it... 9.5/10. Made me sad in the end, because you could tell Scorsese was saying goodbye with this one. He knows his time is coming sooner than later.

Scorsese playing with house money from here on out...

Seen this today and I didnt leave the theater wow’d like I did alot of his other movies and I think its because it felt like watchinga buncha middle aged men

When a younger Sheeran (Deniro) breaks the hand of a deli clerk who shoved his daughter, his movements looked soo off, almost like a great grandpa kicking and punching

The 3.5 hours never dragged tho and while Pacino was great, Pesci was my favorite part of the movie. Something about his character’s calm demeanor just had alot of charisma behind him.

My favorite scene was when they have the meeting in Florida with Tony Pro.
‘Its 80 degrees here and people are freezing to death in New York’, ‘its summertime, no ones freezing to death in New York’

The last 25 minutes could have been cut. Also Hoffa was an idiot for not listening. They dont usually warn you before they whack you but he got plenty of chances and at the end his pride fu*ked him

Movie made Irishman and Hoffa seem like best friends but I dont think thats how close they were in real life.

Overall 8/10 and while its not my fav film of the year its in my top 6

Yeah they were best friends in real life but the Irishman had a job to do on demand which hurt him to k*ll Hoffa

To me Rus saw how close frank was to Jimmy so he made him do it .. if frank said no then you know that would’ve been he’s head ..

Saw it last night at the Alamo in Brooklyn and honestly what a movie It’s a lot to digest so I’ll get all my thoughts when I do my 2nd viewing on Netflix but truly what a great sendoff for Scorsese & the crew

With me watching GoodFellas , Casino & TWOWS like it’s a religion the first scene automatically brings you back with open arms : the long take , the doo wop music & character narration all felt like home

Whole cast was great , you can tell Deniro really tried to give it 100% especially in the later Frank years , Pesci being more reserved this time around was a joy to see & a surprise seeing Herc joining along for the ride

I do love how we get a fresh perspective in this world from a hitman’s POV & the film does kinda come to a halt after the big twist but I think it just caps off the true end of the film & the last part should be treated as a epilogue & somewhat real life version of these guys final lap

Last takeaway I loved all the call backs to Martin’s old work inside this movie : camera style shots from Mean Streets/Taxi Driver , Deniro giving out money like Jimmy Conway again , Pacino’s speech and crowd reaction which felt straight out of Wolf Of Wall Street but my favorite
[spoiler - click to view]

Movie gets a 9/10 from and if this is truly the swan song for Scorsese and gangster movies

Just watched it 2 days ago in Brussels. A fantastic movie, a masterpiece. It just reminded me very much of Sergio Leones "Once Upon A Time In America".

So watched tonight... I was disappointed... 4.5/10.

I dont think this will live up to the general public hype.

Acting wise 9/10 but the story just wasnt cutting it even though it was based on true events.
