Too many of these fan projects get executed and its cause the team has no communication with Nintendo. I never seen a fan project go about and release the work on the internet, and then Nintendo sees it, and wants to collaborate with the team. Never happened. Nintendo sees it, and then gets their legal law muscle to do work.
Anyone stands a better chance working at Ubisoft and pitching an internal fan project between colleagues to your supervisor, who reports it to the manager, who reports it to the director of operations, who gets in contact with Nintendo, and then the project gets pitched.
