As a 80s kid, I’ve always been a Bats fan (grew up watching reruns of Batman ‘66 in the 80s) ..but Batman ‘89 was my GOAT of all comic book movies (at least until Blade came along lol) ..

But if Bats ‘89 doesn’t come along, there’s no Blade.....both of these movies literally help keep comic book movies alive ...into the golden era of comic book movies we are in now.

Also, Bats ‘89 is when we began to appreciate Gotham as an living city and also the tone feel of it, the Arkham game series take away a lot form the tone Burton set for Gotham in the ‘89 movie.

Lastly, the one liners.......there’s at least 2 iconic one liners in that movie alone.

I will agree that his slow songs are the best. Since his death, I have been reexamining his entire discography. I am finding I'm becoming interested in the faster tracks especially those with the Minneapolis sound. The Scandalous s*x Suite is really nice. My favorite slow jam list changes depending on the day, but I think my number 1 song has always been:

I always said I wanted this sung at my wedding.
I love that song and it almost makes me think of my wife. Here's my personal top 5 Prince songs.

Scandalous
Insatiable
Purple Rain
Beautiful Ones
Damn You

Like I said, I'm a sucker for love songs but put on Baby I'm A Star and no matter where I'm at I'm moving.

You may be cool.

But you'll never be Joker riding on a float throwing money to Prince playing in the background cool.

Brah let me tell you how influential this movie was.

Remember 25c soda vending machines?

Yeah. I use to drink Diet Coke as a kid because that was the drink Batman endorsed.

Fun fact: Jack Nicholson would not play in the movie unless Prince did the soundtrack. And thanks to that we got the greatest Prince ever.

I don’t think this is true, but if you have a source I’d love to read it... Jack had enough crazy demands for this movie as it was.

Anybody with anything bad to say about this movie can eat a d*ck.

It’s the reason we even got the Dark Knights greatness.

7. If I Was Your Girlfriend (Sign 'O' the Times)
8. I Hate U (The Gold Experience)
9. Man of War (Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic)
10. Somewhere Here on Earth (Planet Earth)
11. International Lover (1999)
12. When 2 R in Love (Loves*xy)
13. The One (New Power Soul)
14. Satisfied (3121)
15. Venus de Milo (Parade)

Honorable Mention: Pink Cashmere (The Hits 1)

To be honest, no one ever thinks of this when talking about CBMs, but this is my personal GOAT (though Batman 1989 is up there).

EDIT: When this comes on tv and I happen to flip past, I have a tough time not finishing it cause nearly every scene to me is classic (The squid baby scene, the Edgar suit scene, the Frank the dog scene, the tunnel scene, the bug f*ght scene, the firing exercise scene, and the chase scene in the beginning are all favorites).
Still remember going to see this in 96. Always watch.

n*ggas love comparing sh*t. Just enjoy the different Eras and be appreciative that your around to witness most of em.

I grew up on Batman and robin ft Mr freeze and poison ivy in 1997. I was 4

But the Dark Knight sticks out to me more. I feel if Gotham was an actual city in Todays world, it would be exactly like that.

Bane was a crime lord, and he was super intelligent so you could see how he outsmarted his enemies most of the time.
