Driving into work today I saw these signs on the highways being changed. My eyes filled with water knowing what God has allowed to happen in my life. Atlanta has truly been the promised land for me. I came here with nothing, lived off Sylvan Road, ended up homeless and starving, but I was always praying and believing. I was always keeping the faith, knowing that if I worked hard, did my absolute best, kept my integrity, honored every blessing, and remained grateful through it all that everything would work out. And it has, thank God. But to all of you looking at my life now, I want to share a scripture/prayer that helped me keep going from St. Mark 9:23-25. It's a simple prayer by a man who had faith, a man who believed, but still had doubts. He said, "LORD I believe but help my unbelief." Even in my darkest times when I wanted to give up, I kept believing, and I asked God to help me to believe past any naysayer, any doubt, and any problem. Just know that it is possible to believe in your dream and still wonder how or when it’s going to happen. Stay the course. Pray, work, believe and repeat. You’ll get there. Just believe for as much as you can, and ask God to help you believe for the rest!

This is bullsh*t. Perry doesn't get love because he dressed up like a woman and promoted negative stereotypes and trans behavior while raking in millions. Guarantee dude would have more support if he was gay but portrayed his stories in a non homo way.

Personally, this is another issue I have. Almost all black movies have to have some issue. Some trials and tribulations. You want a movie about a bunch of black dudes going camping and ending up in a fu*ked up predicament or a black kid walking home from school getting abducted by aliens? Too bad. You want black women having man problems, drug dealing, violence and the like, we got you covered. I want some originality. All this dudes movies are a new twist on the same old story. Not only is it played out, but our people need to see positive images of themselves. A million movies about a black woman who can't trust her black man are a million too many REGARDLESS of how many people are "going through it".

Same thing I was saying in the other thread with that stupid fu*king rapper going down for murder. I'm tired of hearing about how people are going through something and that's supposed to justify their actions. The more these narratives play out in the music and movies you consume, the higher the likelihood you'll begin to exhibit the same behavior. Our people don't need more of these "stories". We need to be seen and shown in a better light, period.

Alot of the movies also sent a different message. I wasn’t tripping on the dress. Just that it symbolized that he felt women were the strong forces in the black family and the men weren’t sh*t.

Hate him or love him but u can’t knock the hustle. Dude came a long way. First time I heard of Tyler Perry was in my French class back in the late 90’s watching his stage play on a bootleg cassette tape.

Don’t understand the hate dude gets. He built his own sh*t, fed a lot of folks, but since he’s not a “real n*gga” or sold dope, he gets hate.

Seeing this makes me think I may watch a Tyler perry movie, see what the hates all about
