The HTC Touch Pro 2 got officially announced at the MWC in Barcelona.
Looks good imo...
From pocketnow...
At MWC, HTC has taken the wraps off of the brand new Touch Pro 2 (press release). It's running with Touch HD resolution (800x480)...making us wonder why this wasn't called the Touch HD Pro. Beyond some difference we'll get to in a moment, the Touch Pro 2 brings over many specs from the original Touch Pro: A Qualcomm MSM7200A CPU clocking in at 528MHz, 512 ROM plus 288MB RAM, WiFi, aGPS, 1500mAh battery, 3.2MP camera, FM Radio, Accelerometer, and Windows Mobile 6.1 (though we're leaning towards the Touch Pro 2 running WinMo 6.5 when it gets released). Release is set at Q2 for Asia and Europe, with a stateside release in the summer.
So how is it different than the original Touch Pro? Here is how:
1. Size: the Touch Pro 2 is just slightly thinner by about 1mm at 17.25mm thick.
2. Screen: though not as large as the massive 4" screen on the Touch HD, the Touch Pro 2 rocks a 3.6" display, which is .8" bigger than the original. It also tilts.
3. Zoom slider: on the bottom of the screen, it looks as if we have a capacitive zoom slider for use with Google Maps and web browsing.
4. No D-Pad: this omission probably won't be popular with Windows Mobile fanatics, but HTC seems to know what they're doing
5. Speakerphone on steroids: with dual microphones and speakers, the Touch Pro 2 does speakerphone like a...pro. Just flip the device over on its back at a board meeting, and you'll have an instant speakerphone.
6. Straight Talk: we'll have to delve into this further at another time, but this feature seems to allow for better management of calls, conference calls, and emails. You know, business stuff.
7. Keyboard: HTC is going with an offset key pattern to make typing a bit more natural.
