The one part of your car you should clean - Exhaust Tips - Here's how I do it.

My OCD kicks in whenever my exhaust tips start turning black. It annoys me when this simple part on nice cars seems to always get overlooked. Here's how I clean mine in less than 5mins.

You'll need 5 items:

image
- Gloves
- Microfiber cloth
- Bucket to fill with water or a hose.
- Baking Soda
- Scotch Brite Pad.
- I prefer the large like this due to what we'll need to do later.
image

Here's the steps:

- If you're using a bucket, fill it with water.
- Wet the inside of your exhaust tip.
- Take Scotch Brite and soak it in water
- Pour a little Baking Soda on the Scotch Brite
image

- Fold the Scotch Brite in half and move it back and forth to work the Baking Soda and turn it into a paste
image

- Proceed to clean that Exhaust Tip.
- Go around for a minute. It's going to get dirty and black but you'll notice the tip getting clean.
- Rinse the Scotch Brite with water and go back into the Exhaust Tip to get the remaining dirt out.
- Depending on how dirty the exhaust tip is or how anal you are you'll have to use the Baking Soda again to get the remainder of the dirt off.
- Once done rinse the tip with water, dry it off with the Microfiber cloth, take a step back and admire how much better it looks then proceed to wonder why you never did this before.

I haven't cleaned my exhaust tips in about 6 months. Here's my before and after pics. Hell of a difference.

I typically don't clean the outside of the tip since that stays fairly clean all the time but if yours is a mess then you will again use the baking soda but you will NOT USE the Scotch Brite. Instead use the baking soda on the microfiber cloth. After that I believe there's some polish your can use to really bring a shine to it.

I only have to apply this once a month and I wash my car weekly. It's not the most shiny stuff but I don't really like that look. I like to put it on in the evening and it won't sling by the time I leave in the morning. That's a huge problem on light colored cars.

It's also a good idea to clean your tires the same way you clean your car so it can stick better.

Yes but depending on the installers skill level you could have water/rust issues down the line.

Not gonna lie, I had to look it up

I saw a few articles saying dust will stick to your tires like crazy.

Thanks for the drop though

Edit - I think I'm going to look into some Meguiars products and a few more sponges.

The thing is I just got my car a year ago. Parents copped it for me as a going away to college gift. I planned on just getting my own sh*t but I'm like I don't wanna cause no unnecessary expenses. I'm content with what I have. Just wanna see if I could juice my sh*t up more a bit
