Nets to target Dwight Howard in 2012?

The New Jersey Nets will move to Brooklyn after next season and would like to do it with a few big names on the roster and a team that has a few more victories than the most recent editions.

New guard Deron Williams(notes) certainly fits that qualification, but he needs some a*sistance. According to the Bergen Record, Williams has spoken with principal owner Mikhail Prokhorov and general manager Billy King about their plan and who they will pursue.

Topping the list is Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard(notes), the Record reports. Howard can opt out of his contract in the summer of 2012.

Williams can be signed to an extension this summer and the Nets want to improve the talent around him to help a*sure him when he makes that decision, the paper reports.

"[Prokhorov] definitely talked about that and it gets you excited," Williams said, according to the Record. "When your owner says he's going to spend the money and put people around you, that's definitely appealing."
