Kevin Durant’s annual “Aunt Pearl” editions have produced some of the most sought-after sneakers in his 15-year-old signature line, but more importantly, they have continued to raise awareness for the perils of brea*t cancer, and how it can affect one-in-three people the world over. Now, for the twelfth time, Durant will use his platform to both honor his late Aunt, and to drive cancer research funding through a partnership with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund with the Nike KD 15 “Aunt Pearl”
As has been the case with releases past, Nike has dressed the pair in all-pink, with pastels serving as the majority. This year, there’s significant detail in the release, with embroidered suede heels, geometric-graphic Swooshes, and tongues of embroidered velour. Special 3D-embroidered tongue tags rest atop the latter, with laser-etching added to the pearly-pink midfoot caging, and marbelized graphics under the outsole to add to the high-detail design. The pair is then completed by special rear pulls and inner tongue embroidery that directly nods to Aunt Pearl and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
