It's all the same sh*t.... I don't think anyone heard this record for the first time and thought about Brownsville Brooklyn.

The East Coast Gangster sound...

When I put on my headphones and listen to Represent and The Sun Rises In The East, I picture myself in 90s NYC riding in a MPV Van shooting at my foes over drug turf or a Black Acura Legend coupe goin to a party and then taking a chicken to a hotel and plucking her brains out.

I'm wearing my Butters and my Bubblegoose jacket too.

Most of those cats aren't that intimidating...

Ol Bird Chested, drugged out mofos .

Fat Joe was intimidating. In the Represent video, Joe looked like he was going to kidnap someone and make em drink a bucket of Pee Pee in a Bronx basement.

Big Pun was definitely someone that u didn't mess with either. He looked like he'll shove a Uzi down your throat just for the hell of it while Alanis Morrisette is playing in the background.

When Fat Joe said something, I believed him

When Big Pun said something, I believed him

Watching that Master Ace video with the low riders made me remember something I ain’t seen for a long time. Anybody remember those “dancing truck beds”? The bed of the truck would lift way up off the frame and bounce around on a big spring. Then they could lower it back down. I swear I saw them in old low rider magazines and videos…
I haven’t seen them anywhere since then…

I don't head too many people from the west coast sounding like that now adays tho. I was gonna ask what time period are we talking cuz now everyone mostly sounds the same. The south, east coast and Midwest all seem to make the same music at least the more mainstream people. Alot of the young guys on the west coast seem to have a different sound tho

I don't listen to mainstream music. The cats that I know from the west like Tri-state, Planet Asia, OhNo, Willie the Kid, and such all work with East coast cats.

appreciate them all for what they were. West coast gangsta rap was more upbeat while east coast gangsta rap had more of a darker gritty vibe. Depends on your mood and what you feel like listening to at the moment.

Uhhh, the ones with the real gang culture? Lol...

We don't (and never) describe Street music as gangsta rap in NYC...

The south did more flagging and gangs than NYC...bloods and crips were a fad for us who had their hey day from like 99-03...then from then on, u only had rappers who were flagging like that. In reality and the neighborhoods, that gang sh*t came and went...some fraudulent lost n*ggas ran with it in the city, but they never got power because gangs don't get anywhere in NYC...organized crime does.
