There are more problems with the black community than you can shake a stick at
-glorifying thug culture as "blackness"
-not working together or teaming up in busineses
-crabs in the bucket mentality
-self hatred: skin color
-self hatred: african american vs african
-post slavery traumatic syndrome(playing the victim for ascpects that dont exist anymore)
-disrespecting our women.. They feel like they gotta have weaves and sh*t to compete... There is no appreciation for their NATURAL hair
-lack of mentoring for young men
-lack of community standards+leadership
-lack of respect for marriage and family structure
-over s3xualizing our culture, and no emphasis on responsibility
-lack of priority on higher education
-lack of priority on financial stability

Thats my short list and im black fyi...

We are in dire need of "black people/culture reform",
Its getting embarrasing, especially in Atlanta

Im glad that a celeb called beyonce and jayz out. They are great role models and actually do alot for the black community but they dont really address social issues pertaining to race

Jayz might drop a verse or a check but thats about it in terms of his image
What do you want jay z and beyonce to do?
Instead of calling them out, you should call out all those rappers who rep gang, murder, etc.

it´s the artist with less ,that should be more involved in the community...cant only look at the top earner and say "do something".They re so far away ,all they can do is give money and politics

When you get right down to it. Black people in America have not progressed much. We still just entertainers to the white folk.

We can't have sh*t because it's always down played and our true leaders don't get press or no one takes them serious.

Most of your grandparents had to deal with jim crow. Thats not to long ago think about that.

It's still a LONG way to go for us.

Bangladesh... Is that you?

But for real, I can understand why he feels that way. The argument could be that the major studios aren't buying the films from minority directors and their companies, but the counter to that is the money these mega stars have. They have the kind of money that could be flipped on a bad or good investment and still be above the red line...

If there were more quality(think dark knight, inception, etc. viewing and script) pro black movies that showed minorities doing the same exact things, I honestly think it would have an effect because people emulate what they see, subconsciously of course...

more hood movies = more people emulating the hood movies...just a thought.

Harry is right....

Jay and Bey dont have to do anything...

One of yall said, maybe hes not the type to speak out.... Hes a rapper

The sucessful blacks are afraid to take chances and i can see how... they went from nothing to something. Its usually rich spoiled kids that grow in to philanthropist because the feel bad about thier silver spoon. That happens after generations of wealth tho.

But all our black entertainers could speak out more... maybe thats why they attended the BET awards this year

As a first generation Afro-Colombian, I agree 100%. Black Americans have gone from being inspirational to just plain lazy and bi*chy. Cats rather try to rap, produce, play ball or sell drugs instead of simply just studying and staying focused on legitimate goals. These drug dealers are so stupid they even call their spots "traps". Idiots

Black Americans have turned into Malcom's worst nightmare......a bunch of crabs in a bucket instead of leaders.
Cosign n*ggas need to stay in school instead of trying to get into the 2% by rapping or playing ball. To make it even worse those rappers and athletes continue to get financially r*ped by some Jew.

I understand what you saying but the Jim Crow laws were made how long ago? Get over that sh*t and do something with yourself. They learned to read 100 years earlier, but you can read now so that dont even matter. Other cultures that have been through as much as we have are being successful. Blacks are left behind because they dont try to catch up to everyone else.
You said that you're a first generation African Columbian right? Well last time I checked, the blacks in Columbian had the poorest living conditions in all of Columbia. When you say blacks, you really need to be speaking on people of African descent all over the world, and not just trying to single out American blacks.

You can go anywhere in the western hemisphere and show me a large Arican descendent population/descendents of slaves, and the current conditions are similar. You were an exception out of Columbian blacks. Your people are just as fu*ked up as African Americans. There are many African Americans in the United States that have been successful just like you so I don't understand your point. In a capitalistic society, and all the historical wrongs that affect us today, and current unjust systems in place, it's impossible for every single black person to be successful.

You don't even truly understand African Americans. Go tell this to your Columbian brothas stuck in poverty. You made it to America right? Well tell all the black Columbians to make it here too. See my point?
