Food for thought

It's at the point where even those who have denied his skill throughout all these years are still faced with the impossibility of denying his longevity.

We've seen what virtually every other quarterback in history looked like as he approached his late 30s. But early 40s? An MVP award at 40? 3 rings after your age 38 season, and currently the front runner for another? Brady entered the GOAT conversation as a result of three simultaneous discussions: from the team achievement perspective, the individual achievement perspective, and now the longevity perspective.

We went from "No rings after Spygate" to "more rings after Spygate alone than all but 4 quarterbacks".

It's not enough that you don't like Tom Brady. Because there's not enough about football to like anymore if you don't. Football in the 21st century thus far has been the story of the Patriots, with infrequent appearances by a hall of fame supporting cast.

At this point, the Patriots have won more playing with house money than your favorite team was able to win with their entire life savings. We were already the greatest dynasty of this century 15 years ago. But that wasn't enough so we started another one.

Has the weight of that reality started to sink in yet, for those still in doubt?

GOAT quarterback
GOAT coach
GOAT dynasty

It's the Jordan Bulls all over again, but more decisively in every way. The salary cap was created in such a way so that football wasn't supposed to ever have a Michael Jordan. And yet Football Jordan still exists.

That was one of Brady's best games. I'm at peace with every super bowl loss I've endured with the Pats, which is all but their first one. The losses fuel the victories.

If not for 2007 I don't believe he wins 6 rings. What happened in 2007 (and 2011) made him a playoff animal. 3 of his last 4 super bowl appearances (with last year being the exception) were each arguably the greatest football I've ever seen at the quarterback position. The improbable 10 point comeback in 49, the impossible comeback in 51 and the devastating loss to the Eagles when he almost willed that embarrassing defense to victory by himself in 52 were Brady's career defining moments for me. 2007, and the naysayers that followed, was more like the catalyst to set it all in motion. That, along with being drafted at #199. He'll never let anyone live that down. I think Giselle reminds him of it now and then just to keep the coals burning. What the fu*k else does he have left to prove at 42 if even I am getting tired of singing his praises by now?

You'd have to call it the largest chip on the shoulder of any athlete in history, as well.

Montana played 16 seasons, winning super bowls in a quarter of them. It's hard to be defeated in a super bowl you weren't good enough to qualify for.

Brady's won 6 in 19 seasons, going to 9 super bowls. So unlike Montana, with his ability to go to a super bowl 1 out of every 4 seasons, Brady is one big dance away from averaging a super bowl appearance every other year.

I realize you're no mathematician, but surely you see the point being made here.

I don't recall talking about divisions at all.

But if I were, it's a good thing that that's what the divisional and conference championships are for. To weed out pretenders.

Like the Saints.

OP is quite possibly one of the worst posters in the sports section.

He's basically suavehopper but during the NFL season.

Every thread is the same d*ck sucking Tom Brady thread.

We know how great how he is. So at this point your threads are really just an annoyance which is against the rules.

Don't be an annoyance or e-beef/troll in BXSC
