BvS isn’t too dark, it was just bad. Comic book fans after Nolan for some reason jumped to the simplistic conclusion that dark must = good when really, Nolan just made good films that happened to be dark. Good films (like IW) can also be lighter and bad films (like BvS) can be even darker. Quality is not tied to atmosphere
In a sense yes. Quality does tie to atmosphere if it’s in the same realm as the source material. Example we have this dark joker which was amazing and how it SHOULD be, directors and writers and studios all get this narcissistic tendencies that their idea is better than what made these characters stand out in the first place, thus we get Jared Letos joker, which was....a fu*king joke
Same goes for Batman. U make batman a fu*kin quirky wise cracking goof and U get Batman forever and Batman and robin
BVS was not a bad flick, And MOS was a great flick

I own the k*lling joke so why are you telling me about it?

They also said he didnt read any of the previous joker material...

Do you actually buy and read comics?

He never acts like any version of Joker you need to stop with your BS...
No need explaining this to the blind zealots they’re too far gone into the hype

My only issue with the whole movie:

How do you explain the age difference between Bruce and Arthur?
Maybe if Arthur is supposed to be early 20's and Bruce early teens....

But it seems like Arthur was in his 40's... so that's a 30 year diffeence....

Bruce 25
Joker 55?
At the time of Batman 1989, Jack Nicholson was 52 & Michael Keaton was 38...a 14 year gap. They showed what appeared to be a Bruce Wayne who's about 10 years of age. They could easily make a 12-15 year time jump and have Joker in the 40-50 range....considering no one really knows his age in the movie.

& if joker lives long enough he will become the brilliant superhero villain everyone is familiar with over time and experience

Heath Ledgers Joker

As a movie it would have been a good psycho movie.. But it was slow and didn't mean sh*t.. And was overwhelmed by the whole mental illness sh*t.. We get it.. It was worth a watch to say u did it but I wouldn't buy it on DVD

went into the theater wit low expectations.

came out very impressed.

if not better than Heath Ledger's Joker, it's definitely on par.

in fact, this Joker + the Dark Knight trilogy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> anything DCEU.

Joker could've possibly be a prequel to Christopher Nolan's sh*t minus the subtle details of mother's neglect/father's abuse and also the age transition.

DCEU don't know wtf they're doing, it's a shame how much better these outside DC films are.

That would work if the joker seemed 30 maximum.... but he was clearly in his 40s minimum.

Remember... in this movie Joker is NOT a supervillian. To say it was overwhelmed by whole mental illness sh*t...

Well the movie is a portrayal of a psychopath serial k*ller...well what do you think is causing all the serial k*ller sh*t?

I'm on this side and against it at the same time. I like what they did if I have to accept the premise they wanted to share. But this could have been so much better to me if they took a different approach. I don't think I'll be rewatching this a bunch of times but still like it for what it is

What. A. fu*king. Movie.

The last 20-30 minutes were brilliant. I’m still letting it all soak in.

I usually don’t like movies that

so it worked for me. I did not expect this level of film making from Todd Phillips.

About the ending,

I haven’t read everything in this thread so maybe it was discussed already.

This was a great birthday present for me.
Bro, I don't even think he escaped Arkham Asylum after he confessed to the murders and stole his mother's records. Everything after that is fantasy. He didn't k*ll his mom or anyone after that. Because at the end his hair was black, he never dyed it green.

They did not intend for this movie to have any connectivity to the larger DC universe so any speculation you hear like that is just wishful fan thinking
