Because he’s not the guy

He’s the role player to the star similar to Banks, Jay rock and q

Very rare do those guys grew big as the star and Drake and Nicki really aren’t Wayne ppl he signed them after they were buzzin.

I never f*cked with OF, Tyler, Earl or none of that when they were buzzin because I don’t usually care for suburban hip-hop. Like last year I came across this YouTube channel called Highlighted. They break down verses and they did one for a Earl verse.

After I watched this and read some of the comments, I got curious and checked out some of Earl’s work. Dude can rap, but the only issues I had was that there was hardly any passion in his flow. Always somewhat monotone, but lyrically on point. Another issue I had was though I couldn’t deny his lyrical ability is just felt stagnant because of the content. He raps about nothing. When there is some content to his raps is just some, “I’m sad, depressed” type sh*t. So you got this lyrical, but lazy flow and no content to your music.. This is not something I could listen too often. You can’t boogie to it, you can’t nod your head, nothing. Just listen and go hmmm.

Relax I’m talking about the artist being bigger than who the came out under/with not actual quality of music which is subjective in itself anyway.

He’s not seeking the mainstream spotlight.

He makes the music he wants, gets admiration from those who genuinely like him & his music, and that’s fulfilling to him. He’s not chasing hit singles or going out of his way to network/be seen next to the hottest artists. He doesn’t even hang around with Tyler like that anymore. Dude is like 27 now. He got a kid now. This thread wild disrespectful like this n*gga was supposed to be a superstar with his image & technical ability.

“There’s not a black woman I can’t thank” is one of the most poignant rap lines of the past 5 years and it came from Some Rap Songs.

Casuals tend to think “rapping good” means you can rap with punchlines that end up sounding like dad jokes in them being puns.

Lyricism doesn’t have to be a showcase of witticism. Poignancy can come by way of simply stating a truism that isn’t usually in words — well, thanking black women on bx isnt expressed or said at all but I digress.

Like I said:
Last two rap releases arent for boring n*ggas.

And I didnt even like Earl or OF before those releases. I thought “I Don’t Like sh*t and Don’t Go Outside” was a turning point for me when it came to me dismissing Earl.
Gotta question your taste in rap here.... "I dont like sh*t" was arguably his best work. It was his most cohesive project, actually had some direction & flow to it.

"Some rap Songs" is pretty much him testing himself on some unfinished and unorthodox production. You wont find many people who can listen to that sh*t & say its enjoyable or a pleasure to listen to. You can tell he was into experimenting in trying to catch those funky out of rhythm beats he used.

You picked one line from this trash album to base your statement? Yeah you need to digress

I've listened to Earl since he came into the game, the beginning... He could have went next level if he wanted, but he prefers the backgroundt.t

this: when he was at his commercial height, OF kinda splintered out... Earl went back to Africa and was off the grid even from the group members for a long while...

rant: Earl didnt want the commercial success, he's thriving below the radar as a producer and lyricist in this New Underground renaissance, most obviously aren't in tune with to call him wack or lazy...

he produced a full project, landed placements on other noteworthy artists projects in that realm, and is being revered heavily in that circle.

his sh*t abstract and he and Hommy are likely cool due to artistic and cultural similarities, but Earl out here moving and shaking as he should.

One line you say? You can't be serious bruh. Earl didn't waste a single fu*king bar on this album.

The vinyl for Some Rap Songs is sold out everywhere. The sh*t was highly praised when it dropped and is definitely considered a underground classic by many.

If you don't like it that's fine. But you're either talking out of your a*s here or trolling, because you seem clueless for somebody that's "listened to Earl from the start"

If you think that project is better than "I Dont Go Outside", than your clearly outta your mind & theres no reasoning here.

I never said Earl doesnt say anything. I can quote every rap from the other album too, wouldnt change the fact that he jumped on a bunch off a*s-tastic production on "Some Rap Songs". The sh*t was garb. The production was experimental & a recipe for disaster.

Telling folks that they're 'out of their mind' and 'can't be reasoned with' simply for preferring one project over another
