LOL@calling LT a pass rushing DE. The n*gga played quite a bit of coverage & his run support was sick. If he was nothing more then a pass rusher why does he have 1100 tackles with a little over 140 sacks? Almost 1000 TACKLES solely not including sacks. Had over 80 tackles a season, Jared Allen is a pass rushing DE but still one of the best against the run and only had 50 tackles this season.

Ware had 57 from the 3-4 OLB, Dumervil 49 from the 3-4 OLB, Matthews had 50 from the OLB etc.

n*gga was a strait monster.

When Ray Lewis makes a QB look like a pretzel then we can have this discussion. LT's ruthlessness>

Ray Lewis can make any player he makes contact with look like pretzel in his prime. Lewis is not a pass rushing LB, he's a more complete LB than anyone who ever played....and people who are saying that LT is the best defensive player, not just LB.....that same analogy can go for Lewis....
but what's amazing about LT is that I read somewhere that he could have won the league MVP as a defensive player and that never has been done before....that's how awesome he was...

he did win league mvp in 1986, but he was the 2nd to do so, in 1971 a DT from minny won it. but those are the only 2.

And if you voted otherwise, shoot yourself... No Seriously.

and :wow: @ the extent people will go to hate on a team they don't like....and then try to come up 'rational' explanations to make it sound like they're not blatantly hating

I think Ray Lewis is phenomenal, and easily deserves to be a 1st balled HOF'er.... but its not even remotely close ... LT is the Defensive GOAT..:agreement6:

Honestly, I really don't consider LT a true linebacker. He was more of a defensive end. Nowadays people call them tweeners , typically in a 3-4 system. Their responsibilities as defensive players are totally different. Their stats don't even compare to each other. Compare Ray to Butkis or Singletary.

But I voted for Ray if we are talking about choosing between 2 of the most dominant defensive players of their era. The guy is a beast and his football IQ is amazing. He plays so fast because he dissects a play before it even happens. LT was just a great pass rusher, but played the run very well.
Not old enough to remember LT but from what I do, I always thought he was a defensive end/olb... so can't really compare the two..

funny thread.... what's next .... micheal strahan to reggie white?

Ray Lewis was always respected by his opponents on the field and is a first ballot hall of famer no doubt.

LT is the best defensive player ever....grown men was actually scared of this dude on the field....
