Am I overdoing it with the pullups?
 

 
My gym has 3 different pullup bars.

1) Narrow grip (2) Normal grip (3) an Wide Grip

I tend to do 3 sets of 8 reps of the normal grip. And then 3 sets of 5 reps in the narrow grip. And then 3 sets of 5 reps in the wide grip.

Too much?

I'm wondering if I should just do 3 sets of 10 reps in one of the grips and call it a day.

I don't know how often you go to the gym. But if you wanna get stronger. Try to Max out or better words go until failure on wide grip. Take a nice rest in between sets.

If you can properly get to 15. Then switch grips and start experimenting.

I do my pull ups all the way down and pull up until the bar is at my lower pec. Going until failure is the only way to gain doing pushups or pullups

Bodyweight reduces injuries and stiffness as well. I was 6'1 160lbs now I stay at a solid 190-195 in summer and 205 in winter. Looking to put on 20lbs this off-season and get up to 225


Yeah I'm 34 now and I'm starting to veer towards calisthenics more for long term benefits. Just maintaining core stability and posture alone. Seeing these 50+ yr olds upright a solid off of calisthenics doing strict form muscle ups no swinging and 100 burpees is more impressive to me than lifting heavy weight.

Didn't know there was a difference. I use the multi-bars, it looks like the one below. Without the a*sisted goofy stuff in the middle.







So I guess the narrow grip bars are the chin-up bars?

Got a door pull up bar upstairs with weighted vest 20kg. Downstairs got this with weight belt.

We need to get a a calisthenics /bodyweight thread up for the kings

Good workout is to try and do 100 pullups and 100 burpees in under 20 minutes. Also alternate the widths of the pullups (wrists forward wide and close, wrists facing you wide and close). This should leave you in a puddle of sweat

yea on my back days i warm up anywhere from 70-100 pullups

@

no such thing as overdoing body weight workouts... you can recover (from failure) as quickly as taking a power nap. i do pull ups, pushups, bw squats everyday. and it's a quick way to warm up for the gym, i do those along with jumping jacks and i go straight into my working sets.

the more often you do them, the more reps you can bang out throughout the day... and it helps you gain muscle form faster when you lifting at the gym.

An Army Ranger just set the new world record for pull ups in 24 hours!

That’s the number it would take for you to beat John Orth’s record for most pull-ups in 24 hours in 2018.

But Brandon Tucker, the former army ranger, did just that… and more.

Look at these hands, they just helped Brandon Tucker lift his 192-pound frame to beat the world record for most pull-ups in 24 hours at Uncommon Athlete on 1st Avenue.

The Former Army Ranger says by doing pull-ups he’s pulling others up with him– and encouraging them to push themselves beyond what they believe their limits are.

Tucker went through a few challenging things including the death of his mother and the end of a career but all that did was motivate him. He says many times, he almost quit but with the help of his friends and family.. he pushed through.

“I kinda put that in his head and told him to not get stuck on 7600, once we get there we’re gonna keep going and we’re gonna ride it out the whole way,” says his older brother Dustin Tucker.

As time crept on, Tucker’s medical team iced his arms and kept his hydrated. “I think mentally he just started hitting a block, you know 20, 30 minutes to go but just telling him physically regardless this 30 minutes isn’t gonna make a difference on if he’s gonna be sore over the next couple of days, he’s gonna be sore regardless. I just kept him mentally focused that way he could continue,” says physical therapist Ray Lynch.

But finally, he did it, hitting 7, 715 pull-ups and he owes it all to his mom. “I said I wanted to do this for her,” says Tucker.

It will take the Guinness book of world records 12 weeks to verify that Tucker defeated the record.. but from Tucker and all of his friends, they believe he crushed it.

Tucker was also raising money to donate to non-profit organizations.

“My goal is to raise $1 for every pull-up and donate that money to several nonprofits whose mission is helping veterans. Those nonprofits are Achilles International Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans, Higher Ground USA, Rescue 22, Warrior Fortitude, Darby’s Warrior Support, Warrior Outreach, Inc.”

Just do them properly as they can fu*k up your joints especially if you do them weighted playa.

pull ups is palms away from ur face (back) chin ups are palms facing you face (biceps)

Curl ups are similiar to chin ups and that when the palms face each other
