Pokemon Presents Show Big Reveal: 'Pokemon Legends Z-A' coming in 2025

The end of the latest Pokemon Presents event included the reveal of Pokemon Legends: Z-A, the sequel to the beloved Pokemon Legends: Arceus, set to launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch in 2025. Pokemon Legends: Arceus released in 2022 and was considered by many to be a breath of fresh air for the Pokemon franchise. It did away with the established formula and took things in some bold new directions.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus released to strong reviews and was a commercial success, so many fans have been keeping their fingers crossed that Game Freak would revisit the concept at some point down the line. Rumors have been swirling about a new Pokemon Legends game in the weeks leading up to the latest Pokemon Presents, and now the game has finally been announced for release next year.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is the title of the next Pokemon Legends game. Set in the Kalos region, last seen in Pokemon X and Y, the CG trailer for the game teased a handful of the Pokemon that will be featured and revealed that the plot would either be about building Lumiose City or rebuilding it. Since Pokemon Legends: Arceus was set in the past, many have assumed that the same will hold true for Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but the trailer also used some futuristic imagery that suggests it could be set in the future. Ultimately, Pokemon fans will have to wait for more official details to be sure.

In the meantime, it was confirmed that Mega Evolutions are coming back in Pokemon Legends Z-A, as evidenced by the use of the Mega Evolution symbol in the trailer. It's possible that there are other clues hidden throughout the trailer, and so it will be interesting to see if fans discover anything else. Fans may want to turn their attention to the Pokemon Legends: Z-A logo, as there's one interesting choice that may have some kind of implication about what fans can expect about the game.

For some reason, the Pokemon Legends bit in the logo is in black and white. This seemingly points to Pokemon Black and White, which were set in the Unova region, yet the new game is clearly set in Kalos. Perhaps Unova will also a play a role in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, or maybe the black and white logo means nothing.

Prior to the Pokemon Presents, there were consistent rumors that Pokemon Black and White remakes were in the works, but such projects weren't announced. Regardless, Pokemon fans have two new projects to look forward to after the Pokemon Presents: Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket and Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

At this point they’re going to never stop being compared to palworld

Regardless of whether that’s fair or not…it is what it is. I hope with switch 2 they’re able to start pushing the franchise further. I’ve been out on it since sword and shield

Depends if both emulators are still being supported by then. Nintendo is already going after one. That might force the other one to stop support but we will see how this plays out.

Game play should have been worked on since sword and shield but they never do. It sucks because we see other companies innovate and the consumer goes crazy for it. Gamefreaks needs to step it up at this point.
