Perfect Dark was the best game on N64

Because it was golden eye 64 on steroids, plus it had bots... nahhh stop playin’

I used to have my little homies 8 deep in the house fiendin’ to jump in some 2v2 matches

Those moments stand out more than some of the best pu**y I ever got

I remember my folks just brought one home randomly one day, as a surprise.

It still probably has offered the best multiplayer experience to me. At least home multiplayer. That four controller ports on the system was a game changer.

Very debatable. I'd say they both did things better than the other.

MK64 had the better multiplayer and varied power-ups. I also think it had the better tracks and controls.

DKR had the better campaign mode, and it was dope that they gave you the option of a water, land, or air vehicle. The item stacking was a cool feature, but I preferred the variety of MK64.

I'd say either answer isn't really wrong.

This is correct. DKR had a story mode, more tracks, more racing types, unlockable characters, an overworld, and cheats.

Probably my favorite system because of the multiplayer aspect. I remember I missed the initial launch for this and they were sold out everywhere. I don't remember how long I had to wait before the 2nd wave came out but I do remember calling every game stop and toys r us in my area every week looking for one lol. My favorite games in no order

Mariokart
WCW/NWO revenge (I actually skipped school the day this came out to buy it)
Golden eye
Starfox 64
Killer instinct gold

Traded in my PS1 for one at Funcoland. If Nintendo hadn't pissed everyone off sticking with the cartridge format, it would've blew PlayStation out the water.

Top 5 games for me
Conkers Bad Fur Day
No Mery
Smash Bros
Donkey Kong 64
Ocarina of Time

Alot of n64 cartridge games held up against the cheaper to make cds of ps1

Super smash bros was my sh*t ! Of course Golden EYE (that goes without saying) and for some reason MK4 hit different on the n64. N64 was good, but I can't front I got stuck on the PlayStation wave, but I'm always a Nintendo dude at heart. I'll never forget the NES.

man i missed the days where consoles were somewhat affordable, and not raise your blood pressure when the launch price is announced, but more importantly i miss when u actually buy the game with the game already in it so u can just slap it in and start playing right away, no DLC or online connection required to enjoy the rest of your day on your couch.

and plus, inviting your friends over and playing during the weekend was much better and more fun than online multiplaying.

but...the past is the past .....

Yall letting nostalgia fu*king k*ll you in these threads lmao

I see people posting games like madden 64(which is probably the worst madden ever)

People saying it's top 3 of all time are fu*king insane.

N64 is a borderine top 3 nintendo console

SNES has a top 2 library, some say goat and then we went to n64 where I don't enjoy more than 20-30 games and damn near everyone preferred multiplats on PSX because you'd get cutscenes and music

A lot of yall didn't really play like you claim you did

N64 wasn't affordable at all, those cartridges and stuff were super expensive meanwhile Playstation was actually cheaper due to having discs

Exactly and I don’t know anyone who ever bought the multi tap (I believe) it was called

I forgot about the rumble pak - that was ahead of it’s time too and forced Sony to update their controllers. Fun fact: at one point in development for goldeneye the rumble pak had to be removed and reinserted to reload your gun. Nintendo decided against this as it would have caused too much wear and tear on the pins / electric components inside the controller itself.

I never found the controller to be an issue. As a kid I was just happy as hell. As an adult now I can see it being a concern. One thing is for sure is that a lot of people didn’t utilize the C buttons. It’s very obvious to me when I see clips on YouTube and the people aren’t moving with precision or how they complain about goldeneye controls being outdated. If the C buttons are used correctly you could smoke anyone who only used the middle stick lol

Overall such great memories. Just copped an n64 hat for the hell of it
I had the multitap and system link cable for ps1. I was playing twisted metal with two systems linked together on two tvs.

Yall missed out fr fr

I bought it once it got cheap and I finally accepted Sega wasn't coming out with a new console.

Goldeneye, WCW vs. NWO: Revenge. k*ller Instinct was fire too, my homie had that.

Had a few games, but was no Dreamcast or anything. Got you by. It was cool.

edit: Wait, N64 came out in September '96, while Dreamcast came out in September '99.

Guess I just bought it because I had some cash, and it was cheap. Had both, and the times seem to overlap.

Bought Atari Jaguar for the same reason. They were $99 brand new towards the end of their run, which was crazy att.

i almost gave into buying a n64 just because of k*ller Instinct Gold but was hella persuaded on buying the playstation cuz everybody was saying tekken was just so much better, so i took it into consideration thinking i made the wrong choice but sh*t seems like they wasnt wrong about what they said it being better

Think PS had a much better selection, from everything I saw (though I personally just had the PS2, which also had a huge selection).

N64 had a handful of great or even epic games, but PS had more to choose from.

As far as k*ller Instinct vs. Tekken, I dunno. KI was dope as fu*k. Could go either way imo.

Agreed, although that 199 is more 380 in today's money. So that's like a 100 dollars more than series S.

My point was I knew a lot of people with N64s who couldn't afford games, rumble packs , memory packs, the red RAM add on for certain games, etc....

Nintendo was running through pockets on that joint

The first time I played the N64 was definitely a top 100 life moment for me.

Mario 64 was a game changer.

It was not the best N64 game, but it was the most important N64 game.

It set the tone for the future of analog gaming.
