This has been my thought process

If you have the opportunity to build around AD for the next 10 years in a city like Los Angeles, you do it.

Even if the LeBron years never produce a chip, that's his loss, not necessarily the Lakers loss
Build around him with what

You’re trading away all the pieces TO build around him with

trash deal for Pels. Has to include Kuzma to pull the trigger on their end.

If I'm the Lakers, I don't really know what I would do. You could wait a season for AD but who knows what type of player LeBron will be a year from now. They might want to get this deal done now

C'mon bruh. You really think players didn't want to come player with AD the past 7 years? They just didn't want to play with him in NO. I'll take the opportunity of having 10 summers to have somebody come to LA and play with AD, who unlike Bron, has yet to capture his first ring and won't necessarily overshadow prospective free agents. Call me delusional but I'd take that bet going forward that we'd get someone to come play with Prime AD in LA after Bron retires.

Youíre talking about free agents Iím talking about the a*sets already on the Lakers.

Youth, players with potential, draft picks, the things to surround a star player with.

That is absolutely delusional because youíre putting AD in the same position heís in now by giving everyone up just to get him. Not to mention youíll be in cap hell so youíll be relying on MLEís & small contracts.

I'm talking post-LeBron. Don't think they'll be in cap hell if they make the smart moves. And drafting young players is still an option because the Lakers have been one of the best teams in the league in recent years at finding young talent late in the draft. Nobody can criticize our scouting department when it comes to late 1st and 2nd round picks. And you can't just over look the fact that free agents will be more likely to come join him in LA than when he was in NO.

Considering the paul george and Kawhi situations, im surprised more teams arent trying to trade for AD and try to convince him to stay. I mean people thought it was a forgone conclusion that PG13 was going to LA, didnt really work out that way. Kawhi MIGHT still be a rental, but theres a good chance he stays after seeing how good he has it there, but even if he leaves, theres an amazing chance he leaves the raptors WITH A RING...

If youre a team like say the Bucks or 76ers and looking for that last piece, why not take a shot? Or a team like my magic who have good young players, but no real star, why not attempt a trade for him and give up gordon and draft picks\players and try to convince him to stay and try to make a run around vuc\ad\isaac\fultz\ross\fournier.....

Kinda sad that it seems all teams are just giving up the pursuit of a top 5-10 player because of fear hes just gonna end up leaving for LA eventually anyways

not a loss business wise.
They'll recoup the entirety of his 4 year deal this year from increased merch and ad sales sometime this year.

I would keep Ball and let Kuzma go honestly. You are going to need a PG to play with Davis when Bron retires.

I hear you but I feel like if they are willing to trade Lonzo, that they plan on getting the likes of a Kyrie or Kemba.

He's under a very reasonable contract (rookie deal for a late first) and gives you 18ppg all but guaranteed....

Hard to replace that in free agency when you got two other max guys already....

It's different in this case. The Lakers burned the bridge with Paul George's agent, where as AD's agent is the agent of Lebron, who is on the Lakers.
