Yeah Duncan was a better scorer than KG. KG was better defensively, a better ballhandler, a better rebounder and a better passer. Y'all keep harping on this scoring like it's the only thing that matters.
KG ain better defensively...KG played better D on the perimeter but Timmy was better defensively inside, he controlled the paint and deterred shots. Timmy's best quality is knowing exactly what you are getting everytime...consistent 21/22 pts and 11 reb and some few blocks...all the time, playoffs or regular season, doesn't matter..even all the way to college his stats are about identical all over. That's not the case with KG..when things gets tough he shrinks a bit and becomes a bit passive in the playoffs....Timmy is the better all round player as a big man!!

Right, KG played better defense on the perimeter, switched and guarded pick and rolls better than Duncan simply because he was a step quicker.

Tim Duncan was a better man to man post defender (KG was a better man to man perimeter defender)..but which would you rather have a better man to man post defender...or a better switch/help defender that as a big can reliably lock up the opposing team's best perimeter player one on one and still switch back to the post and give elite help there?

KG is not a great scorer. Nobody is saying KG is a great scorer, he needs a Manu Ginobili or a Tony Parker to lead the team in scoring if you're gonna build around KG. But he's the ultimate defender, and a guy that will do everything else for you at an elite level and still can give you 20 points a game on solid numbers and can be an elite playmaker at his position if he's a second option. Y'all keep harping on this scoring and want to ignore everything else that goes on in a basketball game and focus on the one skill KG is a B+ at.

You typed a lot but nothing within context....context here is the era they were playing. In the early 2000s, if you have nothing to go against Shaq, you are doomed. So all that perimeter KG sh*t has lil impact in the grand scheme of things if you have nothing for Shaq...and that's where Timmy comes in. Shaq is dominants but Timmy matches up with him better than KG offensively and defensively....

Nobody is harping on scoring, we talking consistency and the game here buddy...KG perhaps would have fit better in today's era but what made Timmy great back then has more to do with his style of play...all that KG perimeter sh*t doesn't amount to much in the playoffs when you going against the big boys!!

1. David Robinson was the main one on that Spurs team checking Shaq.
2. If you remember, Kobe used to stomp a mudhole in the Spurs because TD/DRob were too preoccupied with Shaq to provide adequate help defense. KG woulda defensively fit better with old man Robinson than TD. Old man DRob woulda been the primary man to man low post defender and KG would terrorize perimeter players as the help defender.
3. Yeah I got TD slightly ahead of KG because of his low post offense being slightly more reliable, but you're making it seem like it's not close. Like in my eyes if Tim Duncan is a 100, KG is a 99.5.

Dude let it rest ...I am a lifelong Spurs Fan, and no way is KG fitting better than Timmy. Robinson was there to try to slow Shaq down a bit but by 2003 he was playing on fumes and Timmy did most of the damage inside..we even used Malik Rose and his big butt to try slowing Shaq down but KG couldn't have done what Timmy did in the middle. If KG ain posing any obstacle to stopping Shaq and going at him on the other end, he wouldn't have mattered....Shaq was the biggest factor then!

If Timmy is 100, KG is 96 and that's good enough...in your world, KG may be 99.5, ok then!

n*ggas talk about that 2011 run but before that they use to punk Dirk in the playoffs and analysts use to call him soft
Dirk heard em and turned up the heat...

Then turned down the heat

That was really the bench series in the finals, they rode Dirk there tho

Dirk had Steve Nash and Finley then terry, Kidd, peja and chandler

Dirk always had a great supporting cast
Steve Nash wasnít Steve Nash until about 2 years after where he won back to back mvps.

Finley is a solid 3rd option and was never an all star

Terry was a great no 2

Peja was on his last legs, literally had one good game in his tenure with Dallas against the Lakers in the divisional round

Chandler was a rim protector who bounced around after his championship year

dirk always had a squad, even in 2011 when yall act like he played with scrubs, but those scrubs swept the back to back champions

KG never had a consistent team until boston and that was short-lived
Swept them cause their bench was deeper..

Mavs would either come back from a 10 point lead or get a 10 point lead when the bench came in

Why do you need more ways to score when no one can stop the 3 things you do good

Young Dirk was a problem off the dribble too. He could take it to the rim

KG HISTORICALLY didnít have the good players and coaching that Dirk had.

Prime Steve Nash, Michael Finely, antwan Jamison, Jerry Stackhouse, Jason Terry, Josh Howard, Jason Kidd, Peja, Tyson Chandler.

KG had who? Sprewell, Sam, Ray, Rondo, Pierce.

KG was the better all around player
Also KG led those Wolves to best record in the West/NBA > Kobe and Shaq's Lakers.

They lost stop the whining. That loss was embarrassing. Also lost as a #1 seed to a #8 seed. Dirks legacy was saved by the run that ended with him beating the LeBron heat.
